China Academy of Fine Arts, referred to as Gome, is located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It was co-founded by the people of China, the Ministry of Education, the people of China, the Ministry of Culture and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province. It is a national "double first-class" construction university and the first batch of key construction universities in Zhejiang Province.
It has been selected as one of the national graduate programs to build high-level universities, national key discipline programs, scholarship receiving institutions of China government for overseas students, the first batch of demonstration universities to deepen innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in China, the first batch of national animation teaching and research bases, and the first batch of demonstration bases to study in China by the Ministry of Education. It is a social and artistic level grading institution.
China Academy of Art was founded in 1928, and its full name is National Academy of Fine Arts. 1929, renamed as National Hangzhou Art Institute; 1938, changed to National Art Institute. 1950, becoming East China Branch of Central Academy of Fine Arts; 1958, renamed Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts; 1993, renamed China Academy of Art.
Before 2000, it was managed by the Ministry of Culture. In 2000, it became a university jointly established by provincial departments. In 20 16, it was approved as a university established by the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture.
