Compulsory courses include general history of the world, general history of China, selected works of history, historical geography of China, history of Chinese historiography, history of western historiography, lectures and readings of original works of foreign literature and history, lectures and readings of original works of China literature and history, historical theories and methods, archaeology and cultural relics, etc.

There are also many elective courses, such as lectures on China's ancient history, American diplomacy in the 20th century, film and television and history, world folklore and social civilization, the history of cultural exchanges between China and the West since Ming and Qing Dynasties, an introduction to China's social history, American social culture, and the study of western welfare countries.

There are many ways out for the history department.

You can take an examination of civil servants (many officials are in the history department, such as Yin, deputy mayor of Shanghai, and mayors of some other provinces and cities).

Being a teacher (with good welfare)

You can go to the museum and the Cultural Bureau (the salary is not high, but the benefits are very generous)

You can go to an enterprise to do human resources work (even if the economy is in recession now)

Finally, in 2006, China University ranked among the top 50 in history.
