The journalism major in the journalism department is the foundation of the journalism school. Its training goal is to train professionals in propaganda, cultural communication, journalism teaching and research for newspapers, news agencies, party and government organs, enterprises and institutions. Students are required to understand the basic principles of Marxist journalism and the policies and decrees of news propaganda, be familiar with the history and present situation of journalism at home and abroad, understand and master the basic knowledge and skills of news interview, writing, editing, commenting and photography, and have a high level of written expression. This major has established close cooperative relations with many domestic news organizations and news colleges, and established direct contact with newspapers, universities or news communication research institutions in the United States, Japan, Britain and other countries and Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Radio and TV news major
The major of radio and television journalism is located in the department of radio and television, aiming at cultivating professionals with high political awareness and strong radio and television news business ability. It is required to master the basic principles of Marxist journalism and news propaganda policies, be familiar with the history and present situation of radio and television at home and abroad, have professional knowledge and basic skills in radio and television news interview, writing, editing, photography, recording and oral broadcasting, skillfully use image language, have a deeper understanding of the film and television industry, have certain artistic accomplishment of radio and television, and have a strong society. The radio and television laboratory has complete equipment, instruments and places for photography, video recording, image editing, recording, dubbing and broadcasting, and has also taken the lead in building an audio-visual database containing hundreds of documentaries. The teaching content focuses on the integration of radio and television news, radio and television art and radio and television culture. Students' video works have won many awards at home and abroad.
Advertising professionals
Advertising major of Advertising Department mainly trains professionals in marketing communication planning and management, and requires students to be familiar with the history, present situation and development trend of advertising at home and abroad, and to learn and master the relevant knowledge and basic ability of overall planning and management of marketing communication; With complex knowledge structure and strong practical ability, and knowing computer operation and advertising design and production, students can become senior planners, users and managers of marketing communication with international vision. This major has established extensive contacts with domestic and foreign counterparts, such as L 'Oré al (China), Dentsu Advertising Company, TBWA Advertising Company under International Macro Group, Draft FCB Advertising Company under IPG International Group, etc.
Communication research
Since September, 2002, the communication major of the Department of Communication has started to recruit students. It is the youngest undergraduate major in the college and one of the first communication majors approved in China. The training goal of communication major is to be able to engage in the business operation and organization management of modern communication media and social organizations, the editing and operation management of online media news, the analysis and management of media market and commercial information, and the data management and analysis. Students majoring in communication have the practical ability to engage in news communication business (including new media technology), rich social coordination and interpersonal skills, broad knowledge structure and international cross-cultural vision, as well as superb information analysis and media management capabilities. Since September 2005, the Department of Communication, the Department of Political Economy and the Department of International Education of Waseda University in Japan have set up a dual-degree training program for undergraduates.
