Huaqiao University is headquartered in Quanzhou, Fujian Province, directly under the leadership of the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee. This is a university directly under the central government approved by Premier Zhou Enlai personally. It is a comprehensive university jointly established by the United Front Work Department, the Ministry of Education and the Fujian Provincial People's Government, and has been designated as a "national key university" by the Central Committee.
