Hitotsubashi university is a national university.

Hitotsubashi university, or Joey for short, is located in Tokyo. It is a research-oriented university focusing on humanities and social sciences, and a designated university unit in China. Hitotsubashi university's predecessor was the commercial law workshop founded by Japanese thinkers Mori Youli and Fukuzawa Yukichi in 1875. 1920 was changed to the old Tokyo University of Commerce, which is the first business university in Japan and the first of the three old business universities. 1949 changed to new university with new name. In 2004, it was restructured into hitotsubashi university, a national university legal person, and was established as a designated national university legal person in 20 19.
