The College of Art and Design began to recruit design students on 1985, and it is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning in China to offer design art education. At present, there are undergraduate majors and directions such as industrial design, visual communication design, environmental art design, public art design, fashion design and performance, animation, as well as master's degree in mechanical manufacturing and automation (product modeling design research direction) and master's degree in industrial design engineering, with more than 300 students 1.300. The College of Art and Design takes the development of industrial design and art design as the leading factor, strengthens the combination of art, technology and economy, and pays special attention to the development of emerging disciplines and marginal disciplines relying on electronic and information engineering technology. Develop discipline groups focusing on design and art, and form a discipline development chain of main disciplines and extended disciplines. In order to cultivate application-oriented design professionals with strong ability of integrating theory with practice, improve the reputation of the school and expand social influence, students are actively encouraged and organized to participate in various design activities and competitions. In the past five years, students have made gratifying achievements in product design, graphic design, environmental art design, animation and media design, and won nearly 1000 awards in different fields and at different levels.
