Universities of Applied Sciences University of Technology is the first high-level applied innovative university named after "applied technology" in Shanghai. The school was founded on 1954. In 2000, Shanghai University of Science and Technology was formed by the merger of Shanghai Institute of Light Industry, Shanghai Institute of Metallurgy and Shanghai Institute of Chemical Technology.
