The Master of English Language and Literature in the School of Foreign Languages of Jinan University is one of the earliest institutions in Jinan University to be granted the master's degree. I used to focus on literature and specialize in translation. Famous scholars Zeng, Weng Xianliang, Zhang Yanling, Tan Shilin, Huang Jun and Professor Huang Xixiang successively served as tutors. The Master of Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics has formed distinctive features in the fields of language application cognition, discourse analysis and formal phonology. There are two doctoral supervisors, Professor Lu Zhi and Professor Pu Ruoqian. The tutors for master students are Professor Wei Jingyi, Professor Pu Ruoqian, Professor Cheng Qian, and the associate professors are Wang, Cui, Fu Yonggang, Duan Kaicheng, Liu, Zhang Qin and Zhan Qiao. Nearly half of the tutors have doctoral degrees and all have academic experience in foreign universities and academic institutions. Postgraduate tutors have presided over or participated in three national social science fund projects, more than one provincial and ministerial humanities and social science project 10, more than one departmental and school-level project 10, published more than one paper 100 in authoritative or core foreign social science journals, and edited or participated in many national planning textbooks.

Most teachers have studied or engaged in teaching and scientific research in the main language target countries. In addition to English and Japanese courses, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian are also foreign languages offered to the whole school. Many teachers have won awards such as "Southern Guangdong Teaching Rookie", "Excellent Teacher of Jinan University", "Top Ten Teaching Masters of Jinan University", "Advanced Scientific Research Worker of Jinan University" and "Model of Teachers' Morality" and outstanding scientific research achievements at different levels. The college has a library that mainly collects foreign language and literature reference books, a foreign language audio reference room and a multimedia computer laboratory for business English teaching.
