Preparatory students are not divided into majors. Ethnic preparatory students admitted to colleges and universities in the region will first concentrate on the preparatory department of Guangxi University for Nationalities, a preparatory education base for ethnic minorities in Guangxi, for one year. Courses offered mainly include: Chinese, English, mathematics, etc. After one year's study, those who pass the political, ideological and cultural examination will directly enter the undergraduate major of the admitted institution and choose the major according to their grades. Ethnic preparatory students are free of tuition during their preparatory study and enjoy the same treatment as college students during their school days.
