Central South University is located in Changsha, a famous historical and cultural city in China, covering an area of 310.7 million square meters. Across the banks of the Xiangjiang River, near the majestic Yuelu Mountain and the Pentium Xiangjiang River, it has an elegant environment and pleasant scenery, and is an ideal garden for learning and seeking knowledge. The school has 30 secondary colleges, including Xiangya Hospital, Xiangya Second Hospital, Xiangya Third Hospital and Xiangya Stomatological Hospital, and enjoys the reputation of "Southern Xiangya".

Central South University was formed in April 2000 by the merger of Hunan Medical University, Changsha Railway Institute and Central South University of Technology. The former Central South University of Technology was formerly known as Central South Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, founded in 1952, and the former Changsha Railway Institute was formerly known as Central South Institute of Architecture and Engineering, founded in 1953. The main disciplines of the two universities can be traced back to the course of Mining and Road in Hunan Higher Institute of Technology founded by 1903.

Hunan Medical University, formerly known as Xiangya Medical College, was founded in 19 14 and is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning in western medicine in China. School mathematics, materials science and engineering, metallurgical engineering, mining engineering, transportation engineering five first-class disciplines were selected as the national "double first-class" construction disciplines.

Materials science, engineering, clinical medicine, computer science, chemistry, pharmacology and toxicology, biology and biochemistry, neuroscience and behavior, mathematics, molecular biology and genetics, social science, immunology, psychiatry and psychology, earth science, environmental science and ecology, agricultural science, physics, microbiology, economics and business. It has entered the top one percent of important scientific indicators.
