This major is one of the oldest in China, with a complete undergraduate, master and doctoral education system. Undergraduate teaching focuses on Russian language and literature, and mainly cultivates Russian professionals. Small class teaching for Russian majors can provide sufficient guarantee for students' basic skills training and practice. At present, inter-school cooperation has been established with Moscow State University, Moscow Normal University, Belarus State University and Belarus State University of Economics, and different numbers of students are sent to study abroad every year 1 year. In addition, a 2.5+ 1+0.5+ 1 joint training model for undergraduates and postgraduates has been established with Belarus State University of Economics.

The main courses are: basic Russian, advanced Russian, modern Russian grammar, conversation, audio-visual speaking, reading, Russian society and culture, Russian literature history, Russian literature classic reading guide, translation practice, newspaper reading, tourism Russian, foreign trade Russian and so on.

Graduates mainly go to foreign-related companies, enterprises in China, foreign-related travel agencies, news publishing and cultural communication institutions, state organs, foreign affairs institutions, various companies and so on.
