Xi Medical University was founded in 1937. Its predecessor was National Medical College of Peking University, and 1950 was renamed Northwest Medical College. In April 2000, xi Medical University merged with Xi Jiaotong University and Shaanxi University of Finance and Economics, and changed its name to Xi Jiaotong University School of Medicine.
The headquarters is located in Xi, a famous historical and cultural city in China. It is a key medical college directly under the Ministry of Health. According to official website, the Department has established long-term cooperative relations with medical colleges and health institutions in more than ten countries and regions, such as the World Health Organization, UNICEF, Guanghua Education Foundation and Yangming University in Taiwan Province.
