Preparatory classes originated from universities in western countries in the second half of the18th century, which refers to a special level of higher education. Generally, senior three graduates need to attend 1 year preparatory classes to adapt to the learning style of universities. There are mainly two kinds of preparatory classes for ethnic minorities and international preparatory classes for international students.
Preparatory courses are often carefully designed by professional teachers in universities to meet the actual needs of future teaching in universities, but the course content is often checked and revised with the preparatory teachers who teach the project.
Ethnic preparatory course refers to the teaching unit set up in ethnic colleges or related institutions to recruit ethnic minority students and strengthen their basic knowledge study before entering undergraduate courses. It is a form of running national higher education in China and an important part of national higher education in China. After the establishment of universities for nationalities, preparatory courses for nationalities have been set up one after another.
Its main task is to take special measures according to the characteristics of minority students, focus on improving basic cultural knowledge and strengthening basic skills training, so that students can develop morally, intellectually and physically in an all-round way and lay a good foundation for professional learning in various schools.
There are two kinds of enrollment targets for ethnic preparatory courses. One is ethnic minority students who have been taking Chinese for one year, mainly taking basic cultural courses, and the other is ethnic minority students who have been taking Chinese for two years, studying cultural courses and learning Chinese.
The difference between preparatory classes and ordinary universities;
College preparatory class can also be said to be a special form of learning, and the time of preparatory class is generally one year. That is to say, for students who take the college entrance examination, if their knowledge level does not reach the level of entering the university, but they meet the enrollment conditions of the preparatory class, they will receive counseling for a period of time to meet the requirements.
There is little difference between college preparatory classes and ordinary universities. In terms of enrollment targets, other batches of ordinary classes and preparatory classes have passed the college entrance examination and enrolled students in the college enrollment plan, but other batches of enrollment targets are all senior three candidates, and preparatory classes only recruit minority senior three candidates.
The study time in ordinary universities is four years, but students in preparatory classes need five years to finish college, because they have to study for one year before they can formally transfer to universities. Therefore, there are some differences in time between preparatory classes and ordinary universities.
The curriculum of college preparatory classes is also different from that of ordinary universities. Preparatory classes mainly emphasize learning beyond the number of languages, but the learning content is also related to the learning content of universities, such as some professional basic courses, which lay the foundation for future learning.
