The University of Michigan, referred to as the University of Michigan and UMich for short, is a world-famous American public university system, which usually refers to the flagship branch of the system-the University of Michigan at ann arbor. The campus is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. It is the world's top public research university and enjoys the reputation of "public ivy". There are also two smaller satellite campuses in dearborn and Flint.

The University of Michigan was founded in Detroit on September 24th 18 17, and then moved to ann arbor on September 24th 1837. It is the earliest university in Michigan, which was founded earlier than Michigan (1837). It is one of the oldest research universities in America. The University of Michigan is one of the founding institutions of association of american universities 14 and the oldest public university among the founding members. The University of Michigan is a member of the International New Engineering Education Alliance.
