The new campus of Nanhua University is located in Ertang Village, a high-tech zone in the west of Hengyang City, on the south side of steamed water. It is estimated that the investment will be 590 million yuan, and the land acquisition will be 1.200 mu. With a scale of 40,000 students, long-term planning will be made in terms of land use, pipe network, transportation and ecology. The overall design emphasizes the synchronization of "campus+area, inside and outside the wall" and strives to create an "ecological university city".

Relevant leaders and experts from Hunan Province, Hengyang City and University of South China strictly reviewed the design schemes provided by Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Zhejiang University and South China University of Technology, and had a heated discussion on the planning structure and overall layout, functional zoning, traffic organization, ecological campus landscape characteristics and architectural style of the two successful candidate projects, and analyzed their respective characteristics and shortcomings.

Finally, the plan B provided by Guangzhou South China University of Technology was finalized. According to this design scheme, the building of the new campus of University of South China conforms to the rugged terrain, with its back facing the mountains and water, and is embedded in the mountains with the courtyard layout, which realizes the maximum integration of architecture and ecological space, and embodies the modern academy characteristics of "the mountain is in the middle and the school is in the mountain".
