The Law Department of Yunnan University Law School was founded in 1933, 1952, and merged into Southwest University of Political Science and Law. 1980, the law department was rebuilt and enrolled the following year. From 65438 to 0999, the Law Department merged with the Law Department and Economic Law Department of Yunnan University of Political Science and Law, and established a brand-new Law School of Yunnan University, which became the most important legal teaching and research base in Yunnan Province.

The Law School now has four departments, namely, the Department of Theoretical Law and Ethnic Law, the Department of Criminal Law and Drug Law, the Department of Civil and Commercial Economic Law and Intellectual Property Law, the Department of International Law and the Department of South Asian Law in Southeast Asia, 10 teaching and research department, 10 research center and the editorial department of Journal of Yunnan University (Law Edition). There are two undergraduate majors in law and drug control, with the authorization of the first-class master of law, the professional direction of 10, and the master of law education in law and illegality, and undertake the training of doctoral students in ethnic law and international law in Yunnan University.
