The postgraduate education of Xi Jiaotong University began in the 1930s. Graduate students were officially enrolled from 193 1, and the number of graduate students reached more than 200 when they transferred from 1956. 1978 resumed postgraduate enrollment. With the pace of China's reform and opening up, it opened a golden age for the development of postgraduate education in Xi Jiaotong University. 1984 became one of the first 22 graduate schools approved by the State Council.
The graduate school is responsible for the enrollment, training, degree awarding and quality assurance, ideological and political education and postgraduate education management of all kinds of graduate students in the school. As China enters the new era of Socialism with Chinese characteristics, the graduate school further deepens the reform, innovates the training mode, promotes the innovative development of graduate education, and strives to make new contributions to the development of degree and graduate education in China.
