The main gate archway is located at the slope of Wushan Road and was built in 24 years of the Republic of China (1935). This archway is the main entrance archway of Sun Yat-sen University, which combines the style of western architecture with the style of traditional architecture in China. The tops of all stone pillars are beautifully decorated, and the left and right Chinese watches, stone drums and their reliefs are exquisite, and the carvings on the drum-holding stones are also exquisite. The little lions on the columns on both sides of the middle door are exquisite and decorated just right. The school gate faces south (185 degrees), which looks like a tall stone archway, and Laowu Mountain Road passes through it. The color of the archway is gray and white, and now it is a little yellow. * * * There are five doorways. It is 26 meters wide (the middle door is 8 meters wide, and the two side doors are 5 meters and 4 meters from inside to outside respectively) and the depth is 6.75 meters. Covering an area of 175.5 square meters. In front of Guangyuan Road, there is a footbridge on the left, Wushan Road on the left, South China University of Technology campus on the left and Tianhe Branch Building of Guangzhou Public Security Bureau on the right. The whole archway consists of 12 granite columns, with 6 columns in a row. The two stone pillars in the middle gate are the tallest, about 10 meter. These stone pillars are all square, among which the Zhongmen stone pillar is made of seven pieces of granite with a side length of 0.95 meters. The stigma of each column is bud-shaped, spanning the left and right huabiao and shigu. There are also carved flowers on huabiao and shigu, and the upper part of the column is embossed with moire, pattern and water pattern. In front of each stone pillar, there is a drum stone with embossed dragon patterns on it, and the drum surface is decorated with embossed petals. In addition, there is a little lion on each of the two stone pillars of the middle gate, and a copper ring is in the lion's mouth. The inside of the middle post is inlaid with a marble with a side length of 0.95 meters, which is engraved with the foundation stone laying time of the school gate of Sun Yat-sen University and the list of school directors. The forehead of the memorial archway originally read "National Sun Yat-sen University". After the founding of New China, Sun Yat-sen University moved away, and the words on his forehead were later changed to "serve the people". Plaques of "South China University of Technology" and "South China Agricultural University" are hung on the columns on both sides of the middle gate.
