Hunan University covers an area of 36 15 mu. Hunan University has 27 colleges covering philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, medicine, art and so on. 1 1, forming a discipline layout with solid science foundation, strong engineering strength, unique humanities and social disciplines, rising life medicine disciplines and active emerging interdisciplinary disciplines.

There are 74 undergraduate majors, 35 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degree, 30 first-class disciplines authorized by doctor's degree and 28 post-doctoral research stations. Two disciplines has two first-class national key disciplines and 14 national key disciplines. Seven disciplines were selected as national defense characteristic disciplines, and the disciplines of chemistry, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering entered the ranks of "world-class disciplines".

The school has two training bases for top students in basic disciplines and four national experimental teaching demonstration centers. It has been selected into the first batch of demonstration universities in China to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, national universities with typical experience in innovation and entrepreneurship, and national universities' practical education and innovation and entrepreneurship bases. Marxism College was selected as the national key Marxism College. Since the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan", it has won the first prize 1 item and the second prize.
