Talent Cultivation in School of Life Sciences, Shandong University of Technology
In terms of personnel training, more than 2,000 graduates have been trained since undergraduate students were enrolled in 200 1 year. Since 2004, 65 graduates have been trained. Outstanding representatives such as Feng Siguang, the moral model of the third national flying hero, Xing Meizi, Wang Guangzhong, and Yu Jingtang, the first prize winners of the 8th and 9th National College Challenge Cup, have emerged among the graduates. The college has formed a good style of study for many years, with an average annual postgraduate entrance examination rate of 45% and an employment rate of over 90%. Different from students of other majors, students in our college are in a leading position in publishing high-level papers, with about 3 papers published every year, 7 of which are included in SCI. It is also among the best in social practice, extracurricular academic and scientific works competitions for college students, and innovative projects in the second classroom every year. There is a field practice base in St. Foshan Forest Park in Yiyuan County, and the school has a training room for applied talents. At present, off-campus practice bases and scientific research platforms have been established with many enterprises and scientific research units, and various extracurricular innovation activities have been actively carried out in combination with fermentation engineering laboratory and pharmaceutical chemistry laboratory, focusing on the cultivation of applied and innovative talents. Graduates are widely distributed in life sciences, medicine, food, biochemistry and other related fields, and the quality of personnel training is excellent, which is well received by employers. In addition, biology undergraduates have broad prospects for postgraduate entrance examination, and many graduate students in our college go abroad for further study. Every year, many undergraduates in our college are admitted to 2 1 1 985 and graduate students of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and their outstanding performance in scientific research and work has been well received by their units.
