University grade point is not only an internationally accepted evaluation system for students' academic performance, but also one of the important indicators to comprehensively evaluate students' curriculum level in the whole learning stage of the university. Since 1985 China began to advocate the implementation of the credit system, people have discussed and studied the credit system more, but neglected the discussion of the grade point system, thus affecting the smooth implementation of the credit system. This paper analyzes and studies many problems existing in the process of adopting the grade point system in domestic universities, and puts forward corresponding countermeasures on the basis of comparing with the grade point system implemented in American universities. ——GPA, an internationally accepted evaluation system for students' academic performance, has been fully implemented in Peking University. On June 3rd, Peking University Academic Affairs Office decided that all courses that students have taken since grade 2002 (students before grade 2002 still follow the rules formulated by each department) will be automatically calculated by the computer and included in the report card. The Academic Affairs Office has written this mechanism into the Detailed Rules for the Management of College Students' Student Status. As early as 1999, GPA has been used to measure students' learning quality. In recent years, this method has been gradually understood and accepted by everyone. The conversion method of average credits is to multiply the scores of various subjects by credits and then divide them by the total credits. The conversion of fraction and integral is as follows: 90- 100 integral = 4.0; 85-89 points = 3.7; 82-84 points = 3.3; 78-8 1 = 3.0; 75-77 points = 2.7; 72-74 points = 2.3; 68-7 1 = 2.0; 64-67 points =1.5; 60-63 points =1.0; Under 60 =0. If you take three courses in one semester, you will get 3 credits (4 points) for English, 3 credits (2 points) for history and 3 credits (3 points) for physics.
Then GPA is (4×3+3×2+3×3)÷9=3. In order to make GPA accurately evaluate students' learning situation, the Academic Affairs Office also stipulates that all courses roughly conform to the normal distribution, and once again emphasizes that the excellent rate (above 85 points) should not exceed 20% in principle, and the unqualified rate (below 60 points) is 1%- 10%. Before entering grades, the academic staff of each department should check the distribution of grades. If they deviate too far, they should submit their scores to the dean/director in charge of teaching in the department and ask the teachers to fine-tune the scores. In addition, as a compulsory course for all students, the scores of general elective courses and public elective courses should be more in line with the distribution given by the school, which is particularly important for the fairness of GPA evaluation. Grade point is a necessary condition for most college graduate students to take exams. Generally speaking, you must have an average grade point average of 2.8 or above to participate in the graduate walk.
