Tsinghua University department of mechanical engineering was founded in 1932. Its predecessor was department of mechanical engineering of Tsinghua University Institute of Technology, and it was the earliest engineering department established in Tsinghua-1952. After the adjustment of faculties, Tsinghua University Machinery Manufacturing Department was established. The mechanical engineering education of Xi Jiaotong University originated from 19 13.
