Hebrew University
As early as the end of 19, when the first batch of new Jewish houses were built in Israel, Professor Herman Skazra, a mathematician at the University of Heidelberg in Germany, wrote a series of articles, suggesting that the Jewish people establish Hebrew universities. By 1902, Professor Cham Martin Gbagbo and Dr Bertrand Fivel jointly put forward a concrete plan to establish a university, which was supported by the leaders of the Zionist movement. They made clear the three main goals of Xida University: first, to build Xida University into an institution of higher learning with international reputation; Second, it should play an important role in the creation and development of the Jewish state; Third, it should build Xida into a Jewish university.
The difficult years in the early days of its establishment
When Xida University was founded, there were only three research institutes for microbiology, chemistry and Jews, with 33 faculty members and students 1, 4 1. In 1930s, due to the influx of Jewish students and scholars who suffered discrimination and persecution in Europe, Western University expanded rapidly. By 1947, Xida University has developed into a comprehensive university with large scale and perfect equipment, integrating scientific research and teaching, and shouldering the developing Palestinian Jewish Research Center. There are seven constituent units: College of Humanities and Natural Sciences, Preparatory Medical College, Agricultural College, Department of Education, Jewish National and University Library, University Press and Adult Education Center. Unfortunately, the war in Palestine separated Sida from the Jewish-controlled Jerusalem and became an "island", so the school had to give up Skopos Mountain and go to Jerusalem to find another campus. Nevertheless, Xida University has made great progress. By 1967, the number of students has exceeded 12500. 1June 9, 967, Jerusalem was unified, and Sida's long exile ended. Therefore, Teru Shimada began to rebuild and expand the Skopje Mountain Campus, making it the main campus of Xida University again at 198 1.
