Beijing Institute of Technology, referred to as "Beijing Institute of Technology", is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China, with a vice-ministerial system. It is a medium-level university, which ranks among the national "double first-class", "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project" key construction universities, and has been selected into the discipline innovation and intelligence introduction plan and the innovation ability improvement plan of universities.
Beijing Institute of Technology, formerly known as the Academy of Natural Sciences, was founded in Yan 'an 1940. After the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Border Region Industrial School and North China University Engineering College were successfully established, they were set up in Beijing on 1949, taking over the headquarters of Sino-French University and the three departments of mathematical physics and chemistry. 1952 was named Beijing Institute of Technology, and 1988 was renamed Beijing Institute of Technology.
