The school was founded in April 1928 in Anqing, then the provincial capital. 65438-0958, Anhui University was established on the basis of Hefei College and the former Physics Department of Anhui University. On September 6th of the same year, President Mao Zedong wrote the name of the school in his own handwriting.

September 20 18 shows that the school has four campuses and a university science and technology industrial park, covering an area of more than 3,200 mu, with a building area of10.25 million square meters and a collection of more than 3.5 million paper books.
