Putian Philosophy Middle School is located in Chengxiang District, Putian City, Fujian Province. The school was founded in 1878 (the fourth year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty), formerly known as Peiyuan Academy. It rented the "Yi Shi Gold" private house in the city's square lane as a school building with poor equipment. From 65438 to 0890, Proust, an American, and his wife, Pushing, were sent to be general principals. Through their careful management, the size of the school has expanded. 1898, Guangxu implemented the new policy, abolished the imperial examination, promoted the school, and changed the name of Peiyuan Academy to Xixuezhai.
1899, Gaudry, an American, took over from Pupu as the principal, built dozens of acres of land between the bamboo shop and Cangbian Lane as the school site, and built a three-story building called Xue Yinglou. 1902, the school was renamed philosophy middle school. In June 2003, with the approval of Putian Municipal People's Government, Putian Philosophy Middle School reopened at the foot of Yangmei Mountain, the old school site of Putian No.2 Middle School, and was registered by Fujian Provincial Education Department in May 2005.
From June, 5438 to February, 2020, this high school was recognized as the second-class standard high school in Fujian Province by the Fujian Provincial Department of Education.
