Xuanwei No.6 Middle School, formerly known as xuanwei county Rongcheng No.1 Middle School, was founded in 1983. At that time, it occupied only 20 mu, with a total construction area of 9,600 ㎡, students 1.08, teaching staff 6 1, and fixed assets of 654,380+0.980 yuan. 1August, 1997, with the care and support of Xuanwei Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government and the education administrative department of Qujing City, with the approval of Qujing Municipal People's Government, Xuanwei No.6 Middle School was upgraded from Rongcheng No.1 Middle School to Xuanwei No.6 Middle School.
Xuanwei No.6 Middle School was awarded the title of "Class II Complete Middle School in Yunnan Province" in 2002. In 2003, it was praised as "the first college student in Yunnan Province" by the provincial recruitment office.
