Matters needing attention in Finland's master's application for studying abroad
Basic conditions for studying in Finland:
1. The applicant must be at least 18 years old.
You must study in an institution of higher learning or a vocational and technical training college.
3. The applicant should show the admission notice that he has been admitted to an institution of higher learning or has been arranged to take the college entrance examination or language examination.
4. Degree course and residence certificate in Finland.
5. Proof of economic guarantee.
6. Completed visa application form. The application form can be obtained from the Finnish Embassy in advance or when applying for a visa.
Master's entrance requirements:
Graduated from a four-year full-time university with a bachelor's degree; The applied major is consistent with the undergraduate course, with excellent results.
English requirements: IELTS: 6.0-6.5 or above or TOEFL 580, or IELTS 6.0 or above or CET-6 or above certificate.
Finnish master's degree classification:
1, degree students
This is the most normal and common student status, that is, passing the entrance examination to enter the five-year master's degree, from the freshman year. All treatment is the same as that of Finnish students. Before 2003, many China students entered universities with high school diplomas. Since 2004, the policy has changed. Only those who are about to get a bachelor's degree in their senior year or have already got a bachelor's degree can apply for the entrance examination qualification. After getting a bachelor's degree, you can convert it into credits, and you don't have to study from freshman year. College graduates can try, but not every university accepts it.
2. Visiting students/freelancers
They don't belong to degrees, and they don't need entrance exams. Some of them have to spend money to study. They can choose courses within one year in this school. No degree will be awarded.
3. IMP students
Students in the international master's program do not need an entrance examination. Generally, such students are guest students in the first year, but they don't pay. In the first year, their grades and credits reached a certain standard and they officially became degree students. After graduation, they get exactly the same master's degree as five-year degree students.
4. Exchange students
Finnish schools have contracts with foreign schools to exchange students. They can't apply for exchange students themselves.
5. Applicants who have obtained or will obtain a bachelor's degree in China apply for a master's degree in Finland.
It is best if you can find IMP major in the University of Finland. The application is made directly to your department. Generally, I will graduate in two years according to IMP's plan. If there is no IMP major, the graduation time cannot be guaranteed. You must apply for a five-year degree, and generally you need an entrance examination, just like the admission method for freshmen. Because there is no planned course arrangement, it is uncertain how many credits can be transferred, and the graduation time is generally above 2.
Applied skills
1. Magnetization before use is very important.
Many students are worried about their poor English when applying, and will try to avoid contacting the school. In fact, active magnetization is very simple. First find the professor you are interested in, write an email to introduce yourself briefly, and then confirm with the professor whether to recruit people.
The advantage of this is that the purpose of the application is more clear. If you can determine the research direction of professors who are interested in you in advance, you will be more targeted when writing PS. Combine the professor's research direction with his own relevant experience and interest, so that writing can impress the teacher more.
2. Clever analysis of 2.GPA
Some students' four-year GPA is very average, but sometimes the GPA only affects the final grade because of the low score in a certain semester or year. Such students can make a simple explanation in their resumes or PS.
This can prevent the professor from being directly rejected because of the low GPA when listening to the material.
Don't worry too much about language achievement.
Of course, the higher the applicant's language score, the better. But sometimes, students' grades are not satisfactory, and sometimes they can apply if their TOEFL scores are slightly lower than the requirements of the school. Although the language score is slightly lower, being able to communicate smoothly with professors or interviews will add points to your application.
