The China Museum of Sexual Culture is located on the fourth floor of this building, borrowing several offices of the Family Planning Commission. The office building of the Shijingshan District Family Planning Commission, located outside the West Fifth Ring Road in Beijing, is very small. If it is not near the street, it is difficult to find its existence.
At the entrance of the museum, a lean, dark-skinned old man hurriedly called everyone in. He is the "master" Professor Ma Xiaonian, the chief physician of the Department of Sexual Medicine in yuquan hospital, Tsinghua University. He has been engaged in sex medicine and sex education for decades, and now he is the vice chairman of china sexology association after retirement. Almost all the collections in this museum come from Ma Xiaonian's private collections, so it is also called a museum of human sexuality.
"It is not easy to run this museum." Professor Ma said bluntly, "These exhibits have been accumulated by me for decades. I want to show them more often, but I can't find a place. In 2005, the Shijingshan Family Planning Commission provided the venue and jointly established this museum. "
But so far, for fear that the people will not accept it, this museum is not directly open to the public, and only accepts organized groups.
The ancients didn't talk about transsexuality.
Although the collection mainly comes from Professor Ma Xiaonian's personal collection, it is unambiguous in quantity and quality, including more than 1000 treasures related to sexual culture from the Neolithic Age to the 20th century.
"In ancient times, the population of a tribe directly determined the rise and fall of a tribe, so sex and reproduction were given a' sacred' coat and even directly described in daily necessities or works of art for people to worship." Professor Ma pointed to a pottery in the middle of the hall and said.
This pottery is one of the most precious exhibits in the museum. About half a meter high, from the Neolithic Hongshan Culture remains. The hole above the pottery forms three faces, one male face and two female faces, symbolizing sexual intercourse between men and women. The most interesting thing is that there are three hollow "breasts" at the bottom of the pottery, forming a triangle. "Nipples" touch the ground and support the whole, which may mean that female breasts are the basis of human reproduction.
Even in the later feudal society, sex was far from taboo as everyone thought. There is a gadget made of porcelain. A naughty child climbed to the top of the box. When the child lifts the lid as a handle, you will find a pair of naked men and women hugging each other in the box, which is lifelike. It shows children peeking at their parents' sex.
In addition, there are a lot of paintings and ceramics, which also describe the pictures of parents having sex and children present. Professor Ma said: "This means that in ancient times, parents were not particularly taboo about talking about sex with their children."
Ancient mysterious silver dish
There is a silver dish on display in the sex museum, and all the visitors don't know what it is for. Professor Ma explained that when ancient men insisted on sexual intercourse with impotence, they could put a silver plate under their penis and tie it with a rope to achieve the effect with the help of the hardness of the silver plate.
"Ximen Qing claimed that the golden gun could not be dropped. I guess he borrowed this tool." Professor Ma said with a smile.
By 1998, Viagra (sildenafil citrate), the world's first drug for treating male erectile dysfunction, was successfully listed in the United States, rewriting the history of treating male erectile dysfunction, thus making silver stents completely useless. However, when it comes to the pre-listing approval of Viagra in China, it has experienced some twists and turns. As one of the experts who participated in the examination and approval in that year, Professor Ma Xiaonian talked about the past.
Because the topic of sex is sensitive, when the examination and approval meeting was held at that time, the State Administration of Medicines invited not only medical experts and pharmacology experts, but also two experts from China Academy of Social Sciences as never before. Therefore, the two opposed the listing of the drug, believing that it would increase sexual crimes and extramarital sex. But all doctors support going public.
"We have to face impotence patients every day in clinic, so many families are facing disintegration. In the end, with such a successful drug, it is absolutely not allowed to solve these pains of patients. " Professor Ma said.
Later, the Food and Drug Administration wrote to all ministries and commissions, including the National People's Congress and the China People's Political Consultative Conference, asking whether the drug could be marketed. In the end, only the Ministry of Culture objected, and the minority obeyed the majority and passed. Finally, in 2000, Viagra was approved to be listed in China, which brought happiness to hundreds of millions of families.
"This is an amazing thing." Professor Ma Xiaonian said loudly.
Since the listing of 1998, Viagra has been approved for use in more than 125 countries around the world, and more than 270 million prescriptions have been issued, which has enabled tens of millions of men around the world to find the joy of sex. This medicine is sold in major hospitals and regular pharmacies all over the country.
