Correspondence College of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications is one of the earliest institutions in China to hold adult higher education. Formerly known as the Correspondence Department of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, 1956 founded Night University, and 1958 started correspondence education. It has a history of nearly 50 years and has trained more than 20 thousand graduates of all kinds.

1959 In May, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications decided that Beijing Institute of Posts and Telecommunications would be in charge of the national high school correspondence education business. The first national conference on post and telecommunications correspondence education was held in June. In September, correspondence departments were established in Nanjing, Wuhan, Changchun, Xi and Chongqing Posts and Telecommunications Colleges, and correspondence departments were established in post and telecommunications schools in all provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government), initially forming a nationwide correspondence education network.

1966 in may, the Ministry of posts and telecommunications decided to establish Beijing institute of posts and telecommunications on the basis of the correspondence department of Beijing institute of posts and telecommunications. In June, the "Cultural Revolution" began, and post and telecommunications correspondence education was suspended.

1973, the correspondence department of Beijing Institute of Posts and Telecommunications was reorganized.

1975, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications decided to resume correspondence education.

1979 In May, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications held a video conference and announced the restoration of Beijing Institute of Posts and Telecommunications.

1980 The correspondence department of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications was merged into Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.

1983 1, the Ministry of Education announced the list of the first batch of correspondence night universities organized by ordinary colleges and universities. Confirm that Beijing, Nanjing, Changchun and Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications are qualified for undergraduate correspondence education. In February, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications decided that Beijing Institute of Posts and Telecommunications was placed under the leadership of Beijing Institute of Posts and Telecommunications and renamed as Correspondence Branch of Beijing Institute of Posts and Telecommunications. Teaching, administration, planning, labor, infrastructure, finance, materials and other work are still under the centralized management of the relevant departments of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.

1986 in may, the enrollment of post and telecommunications higher correspondence education was included in the national unified examination track for adult higher education enrollment organized by the state education commission.

1June, 1987, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications decided to put the administrative relationship of the correspondence branch of Beijing Institute of Posts and Telecommunications under the leadership of Beijing Institute of Posts and Telecommunications.

1In August 1992, the State Education Commission organized a national conference on adult higher education, and the Correspondence Branch of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications won the title of "Advanced Unit of Adult Higher Education in National Ordinary Colleges and Universities".

1993, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications was renamed Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and the correspondence branch of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications was renamed Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. In June, the State Education Commission decided to put the graduation certificate of adult higher education under centralized management, which was uniformly examined and printed by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.

1997, the sixth national conference on post and telecommunications correspondence education was held. Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications won the title of "National Excellent School for Adult Higher Education Evaluation".

1in may, 1998, the party Committee of Beijing university of posts and telecommunications decided to set up a continuing education college on the basis of correspondence college and post and telecommunications training center.

1In March, 1999, the Ministry of Education decided that Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications was one of the first institutions to participate in the pilot of modern distance education. In June, the Party Committee of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications decided to formally establish the Distance College of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.

In April 2000, the Party Committee of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications approved the cancellation of the Distance College of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and established the former Correspondence College of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and the Distance College of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.

In June, 20001,the president's office of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications decided to rename "Correspondence College of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications" as "Network Education College of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications".

In September 2002, the online education college of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications began to recruit graduate students independently. At the beginning of 2002, the graduate research base-Institute of Network Education Technology of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications was established.

In July, 2003, the Academic Committee of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications approved that the master program of "Educational Technology" should be attached to the network education college for enrollment and training.

In 2004, the College of Online Education cooperated with the College of Information to train graduate students of "Electronics and Communication" engineering.

In 2006, Network Education College cooperated with Electronic College to train graduate students majoring in electronics and communication.

In August 2006, with the approval of the school's evaluation, the online education college began to recruit graduate students majoring in electronics and communication independently.
