The origin of this street can be traced back to the first year of Xiaozhong Hongzhi in Ming Dynasty. There was a small class in Beijing at that time. In the early Qing Dynasty, it was strictly forbidden to open theaters and other entertainment places in the inner city, so theaters were mostly opened outside the front door.

At that time, there were five famous theaters, such as Qingyuan, Sanqingyuan, Guangde Building, Guangheyuan and Tong Yuan, and Daguanlou Cinema, the first cinema in Beijing, which opened in the early years of the Republic of China. People who live in the inner city often come here to watch night shows, which enhances the lively atmosphere here and promotes the prosperity of Dashilan.
