The second major feature of China's ancient educational thought is the emphasis on ethics, that is, taking moral education as the core.
The reason why ancient educators attached importance to moral education was to serve political purposes. This kind of moral education is ultimately political education. This emphasis on the unity of politics and ethics has formed the typical characteristics of China's ancient educational culture: political ethicalization and ethical politicization, and on this basis, the Confucian way of self-cultivation and governing the country has emerged. This kind of thought is based on society and emphasizes national interests and overall value, which is reasonable. However, it ignores personal interests and values, personal independence and freedom, only personal obligations and responsibilities, and ignores personal equality and rights, thus limiting personal initiative and creativity, which is not conducive to personal development and social progress. Since the "exclusive respect for Confucianism" in the Han Dynasty, Confucianism based on society has become the mainstream of society, which has had a great and far-reaching impact on China's education.
