Cymbidium hybridum is native to warm climate areas such as Himalaya, India, Myanmar and Thailand in Asia. There are about 70 native species in the world, mainly distributed in tropical and subtropical Asia, widely distributed in Indonesia, Thailand, South Korea and Singapore, and a few in Africa and Oceania. There are more than 20 species in China, with southwest China as the distribution center. Ceylon grandiflora is widely planted in subtropical and temperate regions, and it is a kind of orchid deeply loved by people all over the world. Because Ceylon belongs to China Orchid, Cymbidium hybridum and Cymbidium hybridum, its leaves are banded like Cymbidium hybridum. The varieties of large plants in the notice of big flowers are mostly cut flowers, and the varieties of small plants are mostly potted plants. At present, Cymbidium hybridum planted in most areas of China is a native variety directly or indirectly from the wild, which has not been improved by hybridization, and has strong wild characteristics and poor ornamental value. As a world commodity, Ceylon grandiflora is an excellent variety cultivated through years of hybridization, with large flowers, many flowers, regular and plump patterns, bright colors, upright stems, long flowering period, strong growth and easy cultivation. It is extremely popular in recent years, and imported varieties dominate the annual orchid market in China.
Experts found that Hylaenopsis grandiflora has tetraploid tissue in genetic cells, and many excellent new varieties can be cultivated by cross breeding with Hylaenopsis grandiflora as female parent. Its leaves are about 7 cm long and droop outward, similar to Chunlan in China. Pseudobulbous cymbidium (that is, orchid head) is extremely huge, with rough growth and a little momentum, so it is commonly known as "Tiger Head Orchid". Its pedicel is drawn from the blue head, with about 65,438+00 flowers. Petals are round and thick, with magnificent colors. Besides yellow, orange, red, purple and brown, there is an unusual emerald green. The pattern is huge, much like Phalaenopsis in orchids. Each tree often has two or three branches, like clusters of colorful balls, which reflect each other and are full of vitality. It can last for 50 or 60 days before it fades. It can be described as a "hybrid" of Guo Lan and Yang Lan. The Japanese call it "East Asia Orchid". Although it is not as fragrant and elegant as Guo Lan, its bold and magnificent features are beyond Guo Lan's reach. Professor Pell Shagli, the famous "originator of orchids" in Thailand, praised it as "blue star".
