Analysis:

This structure is the most widely used in LAN at present, and it is almost always used in enterprise networks. Star networks are almost dedicated to Ethernet. It is so named because all workstation node devices in the network are connected by a centralized network device (such as a hub or switch), and all nodes are distributed in a star shape. At present, twisted pair is the most widely used transmission medium in this kind of network, such as ordinary five-level cable and super five-level twisted pair. Its basic connection diagram is shown in the figure.

The basic characteristics of this topological network are as follows:

(1) is easy to realize: the transmission medium it uses is generally twisted pair, which is cheaper. For example, at present, the authentic five types of twisted pair are only about 1.5 yuan per meter, while the cheapest coaxial cable is about 2.00 yuan per meter, not to mention optical cable. This topology is mainly used for Ethernet LAN of IEEE 802.2 and IEEE 802.3 standards.

(2) Convenient node expansion and movement: When a node expands, it only needs to pull a line from a centralized device such as a hub or a switch, and the mobile node only needs to move the corresponding node equipment to a new node, instead of "pulling one and moving the world" like a ring network;

(3) easy to maintain; The failure of one node will not affect the connection of other nodes, and the failed nodes can be removed at will;

(4) adopting broadcast information transmission mode: the information sent by any node can be received by all nodes in the whole network, which has certain network hidden dangers, but has little influence on the use of local area network;

(5) Fast network data transmission: This can be seen from the latest Ethernet access speed from 1000Mbps to 10G.
