Follow in his father's footsteps.
? Hwi-Hyang Lee

At the first people's congress in our city, I was fortunate to give a report as a representative of the education sector. This report is insignificant to others, but it is of great significance to me. For me, participating in various performances is not only to perform the duties of deputies to the National People's Congress, but also to follow in my father's footsteps.

My father was elected as the representative of the Seventh National People's Congress because of his outstanding contribution to agriculture.

1962, when the country was in economic difficulties, my father left education to support agriculture according to the arrangement of his superiors. In order to popularize literacy education and science and technology education, my father founded literacy night schools and science and technology night schools in the village. In order to change the poverty and backwardness in the village, he found uncle Zhang Xinfang, a classmate who works in the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences, introduced high-yield crops such as wheat and corn, and led the masses to carry out plastic film mulching experiments such as peanuts and watermelons. The yield of the new peanut variety 7432 mu quadrupled, and the watermelon Bianjing 1 was thin and sweet. Leading the villagers to the road of getting rid of poverty and getting rich, the villagers' faces have a smile that they have not seen for many years.

In the 1970s, my hometown was on the bank of the Yellow River, and there was barren yellow soil everywhere, and the soil desertification was serious. There are no canals in the village, and irrigation only depends on a few motor wells. The yield of grain crops is only 120 kilograms per mu, and the varieties of crops such as peanuts, sweet potatoes and soybeans are aging, and the yield is extremely low. Poverty goes hand in hand, and eating well and wearing warm clothes has become the extravagant hope of the villagers. In those years, the birth rate was almost zero. Faced with the status quo, the father of the then captain was worried all day.

Father can go down to the ground and sit in the study. It is not easy to lead the members to work in the fields during the day and read books under the oil lamp at night. But my meager savings have been bought into books such as "High-yield Techniques of Wheat" and "Cultivation Techniques of Edible Fungi". My father has been saving the power to change rural poverty and brewing magical strategies to make farmers live a rich life. The couplets at home are a portrayal of my father's mood at that time: "Wisdom sets up road to riches, and courage blows open the door to happiness." Horizontal approval: go straight to a well-off society. "

When the east wind of the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee blew all over the land of China and this remote small village in northern Henan, the rural areas implemented the contract responsibility system of joint production, and the dream boat of my father taking the rich folks began to set sail in the tide of the times. "If you are poor, you will know what you know, but you must practice." Every time my father introduced high-yield crops from the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences, he always did it himself, conducted scientific experiments, and then recommended crops and high-yield technologies suitable for planting on sandy soil to the villagers.

I remember that when plastic film peanuts were planted, my father used two acres of land in the west of my house as the experimental field, turning over the soil, ridging, mixing drugs, sowing and covering with plastic film. The peanut fields covered with plastic film glowed with white light in the sun, which became a beautiful scenery in the village. Father wrote down the sowing depth and spacing, temperature and humidity. When the peanut seedlings came out, my father took us to gently pierce the mulch film on the seedlings, and the newly grown seedlings boldly poked their heads out, relaxed their bones and muscles, looked at the vast fields with novel eyes, gulped fresh air and greedily accepted the baptism of the sun. Seeing that the seedlings changed from light yellow to light green, from light green to dark green, and the plants changed from small to large, my father's eyes were as kind as those of our four brothers and sisters.

? The sky is like a cover, and the earth stretches around. As peanuts grow branches and leaves, they grow stronger and stronger. My father is in a green ocean, like a general in a military parade, paying attention to rows of peanut seedlings. Peanuts dare not neglect, full of energy, neatly lined up, for fear of disappointing their father.

From sowing time to seedling stage, from irrigation period to fertilization period, from flowering period to fruiting period, with the growth of peanut seedlings, dad keeps records every day. An alcohol lamp, a thermometer, a small balance and a shovel are my father's experimental tools. Father hand-painted various forms, recorded the experiment log in detail, and carefully wrote the experiment report. Every plant, every ridge and every bed embodies my father's painstaking efforts and hopes.

Peanuts grow thick, noisy and full of green eyes, which brings the rich dreams of villagers closer to his father day by day. Father went out early and returned late, giving the experimental field a lot of time. Every morning, the bright morning sun arches out from the small forest at the head of the village. My father worked in the field for several hours with a thermometer and a notebook.

Even if it rains, my father is reluctant to leave the experimental field, wearing rubber shoes and hemp fiber. Even though the rain blurred his glasses, he still reviewed the "troops" and still looked like a general. He accompanied every peanut to suck up the rain. He could hear the sucking sound of peanut roots, and he could see the peanut seedlings grow sturdily. When all the peanuts were sucked enough, the world was calm, and his father smelled the smell of peanuts and soil. When my father came home, it was already dark and my mother was busy serving rice and vegetables. We hurried to wash our faces. We can clearly see the flashing light between his eyebrows and eyes and feel his patience and hope all his life.

Father loves his experimental field, the land that raised him, crops and vegetables, and even all the creatures on the land, including trees, weeds, frogs and ladybugs that eat pests in crops. My father dreamed that the barren land that raised him would prosper with wealth.

The harvest day has arrived, and my brother and sister in middle school and my sister in primary school are on autumn vacation. My father led us to pick out the peanut seedlings with the most fruits in the experimental field and the ordinary plot, divide them into two piles, check the number of peanut fruits respectively, and weigh each peanut corner.

I remember that autumn, Director Sun and Brother Tianbao from the Agriculture Bureau came, the uncle and aunt Mei Ju from the agricultural technology extension station in Dingluan Township came, and several newspaper reporters from the province also came. The government organized representatives from all towns and villages in the county to visit. My father picked a peanut from the ground and introduced the high-yield technology of the new variety Haihua 2 to people far away. At that time, the reporter of Farmers Daily recorded this moment with a lens: under the vast and high sky, people knew my hometown-Shizhuang Village, Dingluan Township, more than 20 kilometers away from the county seat.

The experiment was successful. Father gave the experimental report to the Agriculture Bureau and taught the villagers planting techniques without reservation. Every household grows watermelons and peanuts with plastic film. Father walked out of the experimental field, ran west, east, south and north, went door to door to guide, check seedlings and answer questions. In autumn, in the face of the growing "peanut army", my father "points soldiers on the battlefield in autumn" and outlines the prospect of bumper harvest. In summer, watching the villagers put round watermelons into woven bags, put them on carts or small four-wheels, walk out of the country, walk into the county seat and transport them to further places, my father showed a gratified smile on his face.

My father knows agriculture, loves farmers, keeps his head in the cart, always looks up at the road, understands national policies, thinks about practical problems and seeks solutions based on the current situation in rural areas. 1987, my father was elected as the representative of the Seventh National People's Congress. When the government sent a car to pick up my father, he just came back from the field, took off his clothes covered with dirt and sweat, put on a gray tunic suit that he rarely wears at ordinary times, and wore a pair of glasses with deep myopia. He immediately exuded the elegance of intellectuals. He once went out for a meeting with a shovel and a briefcase in his hand, but he didn't feel disobedient at all. With the blessings and expectations of fellow villagers, my father went to Beijing to attend the meeting. During his tenure as a deputy to the National People's Congress, my father put forward dozens of suggestions on behalf of his hometown Changyuan, which were all adopted. Among them, Proposal No.508 "On the Establishment of Secondary Cooking Technical School in Changyuan County, Henan Province" put forward at the Fourth Session of the Seventh National People's Congress was answered and implemented by the Henan Provincial People's Government.

My father subscribes to several newspapers and magazines every year, lives in a humble room, cares about the world, is indifferent to fame and fortune, and is open-minded. From 1984 to 1992, my father was elected as the representative of the seventh, eighth and ninth people's congresses in Changyuan County, and from 1987 to 1996, he was elected as Changyuan County. I still remember that in order to perform his duties, my father often read books and newspapers all night, and often tried to do high-yield experiments of crops without sleep. For decades, he likes talking with visiting farmers and popularizing agricultural production techniques. Father advocates that every family should study and everyone should be polite; Advocate green life and publicize the national policy of benefiting the people; Develop ecological agriculture and maintain rural environment. Father has an unfinished wish: to set up a library and calligraphy room at home, so that villagers can read and practice calligraphy in their spare time, broaden their horizons and enrich their hearts. He said that to be a deputy to the National People's Congress, we must be far-sighted, do practical things and be grounded, so as to win the hearts of the people and live up to our mission. The words are still in my ears, vivid and unforgettable.

In 20 17, I was elected as the representative of the municipal people's congress, and I knew the heavy responsibility on my shoulders. Following in my father's footsteps and inheriting his legacy, I am on the way to fulfill my duties as a representative. Last August, 15, I visited Zhailai Village, Maozhuang Village, Shangguan Village and Dalangkou Village in Zhao Di, Puxi with the research team of the Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee. I felt the beauty of my hometown at close range and witnessed the changes in the countryside. After the activity, I wrote an article about my experience in beautiful countryside. Combining the rural revitalization strategy of beautiful countryside, I began to think about how to revitalize rural education, improve the professional quality of rural teachers, and think about the combination of my work and the performance of NPC deputies. He visited schools such as Fangli, Dingluan, Wuqiu, Weizhuang and Naoli successively, and sent teachers to the countryside in schools such as Fanxianghuzhuang Primary School, Mancun Qiu Yi Primary School, Zhangsanzhai Central Primary School, Changcun Xiaoguo Primary School and Zhao Di Central Primary School to understand the current situation of rural primary and secondary education, the current situation of front-line teachers' work and development needs, promote the solution of outstanding problems restricting balanced education between urban and rural areas, and practice the responsibility and responsibility of an education representative with practical actions.

At the end of the report, there was thunderous applause for me and my father. I remember that in the spring of 20 18, I went to Zhoushan, Zhejiang to study. My father asked me how long I would study. I told him that my study was not over yet, but my father was sent to the morgue. I miss my father who struggled all his life but died suddenly. My heart has never left for two years. All the honors, fame, status, happiness and honor in the world were eclipsed when my father was alive. A loving father is as kind as the sea, but there is no way to repay him. Only by following in his father's footsteps can he inherit his spirit.
