What is DSE testing?
The examination subjects of DSE are divided into 4 compulsory core subjects and 2~3 elective subjects, with a maximum of 8 subjects. Subjects can be selected from three subject categories: A, B and C. If candidates choose to apply for extension of mathematics subjects, the scores in this part will be listed separately from those in the required part, but the extension will not be regarded as an additional subject.
Among them, the core subjects of the four compulsory examinations (all of which belong to Class A) are:
Chinese language

China language and English language:
In addition to the overall level of the subject, both Chinese subjects will be reported to the level of each subject (such as reading). Individual divisions whose scores are lower than grade 1 are classified as "No Grade". If the candidate's total score of subjects is 1 or above, and the score of individual subjects is "no score", the total score of all subjects and subjects will be reported on the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education; If the total score of the subject is below 1 point, neither the sub-subject score nor the total score of the subject will be filled in on the certificate.
The English department has a compulsory part and an optional part, whether it is reading in Volume 1 or listening and comprehensive ability in Volume 3. In addition to the required part, candidates can choose the easier or more difficult part to answer in the selected part. If the candidate chooses the difficult part, he can get the highest score of 5** in the relevant division, while the candidate who chooses the easy part can only get the highest score of 4.
Math:
Candidates can choose only the required part of the exam, or choose one of the two units: the required part and the extended part. The results of the required part and the extended part will be reported separately.
As for elective subjects, they can be divided into three categories: A, B and C.
Class a subjects
The assessment bureau is solely responsible for the rating of class A subjects. On the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education, candidates' scores will be reported at level 5 (1-5), with level 5 as the highest level. Among the fifth-grade candidates, the best one can be rated as 5 * *; The second best performer can be rated as 5 *; The rest are rated as Grade 5. Performance below grade 1 will be classified as "no grade" and will not be reported on the certificate.

Class b subjects
The assessment of B-type applied learning subjects is the responsibility of the institutions (course providers) that provide relevant courses. Candidates' scores must be audited by HKEAA and reported on the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education. The results of related subjects will be reported in two grades, namely "reaching the standard" and "reaching the standard and performing well". Performance below the "standard" level will be classified as "substandard" and will not be reported on the certificate.
Subjects include: creative learning, media and communication, business, management and law, service, applied science, engineering and production.
Class C subjects
Class C subjects include six other language subjects at the advanced supplemental level. CIE of Cambridge University will be responsible for drafting, marking and grading the exam.
