The present school education system in China is exam-oriented education (also called cramming education).

Definition of exam-oriented education

Exam-oriented education is usually regarded as an educational system with the main purpose of improving students' ability to take exams, and attaches great importance to exam results, recitation and problem solving. It is not two corresponding concepts with quality education.

The history of exam-oriented education

This kind of education system is the only popular education system in Middle Ages and modern East Asia and Europe. Through the guidance and strict training of teachers, a large number of technical talents can be trained. However, under the capitalist reform, European and American countries gradually turned to "quality education" after the demand for pioneering generalists increased greatly, while East Asian countries still adhered to the examination-oriented system.

The Origin of Exam-oriented Education in China

After China resumed the college entrance examination system, many people thought that the college entrance examination was the only way to select talents. Influenced by this idea, the atmosphere of exam-oriented education came into being.
