During the Qin and Han Dynasties, Qin Shihuang ruled the whole country. In order to prohibit some Confucian scholars from spreading anti-Qin remarks, he ordered the banning of private schools. In the early Han Dynasty, in order to maintain the newly established dynasty, the country needed a large number of talents. During this period, the theory of ritual and music education was dominant and was recognized by Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty. Therefore, music teaching in private schools mainly focuses on ritual and music education and self-cultivation.
