The Department of Psychology adopts a teaching model that is in line with international standards in teaching, focusing on the following five aspects of reform:

First, some courses are taught by overseas teachers, and all undergraduate and postgraduate courses are taught in English textbooks or all in English.

The second is to implement the undergraduate tutorial system. From the first year, every student will be provided with a study tutor, and some students who enter the third year will have a research tutor.

The third is to implement the credit system for scientific research achievements and encourage students to carry out various scientific research and innovation activities.

Seven. laboratory

This is one of the key construction projects of our department. The psychology experimental center of Zhuhai campus (teaching experimental building area B) has been put into use. The construction plan of psychology experiment center in Guangzhou South Campus (underground of Gao Lishi House) is about to start. The psychological experiment center includes experimental psychology laboratory (behavioral experiment system-various reaction time experiments can be carried out by computer self-programming), brain functional imaging laboratory, eye tracker laboratory, multi-channel physiological recording system laboratory, behavior laboratory and children's behavior observation room. All laboratories serve the teaching and research of basic and applied courses and are open to teachers and students all day.

According to the development trend, the experimental psychology laboratory will mainly undertake the teaching experiments of experimental psychology and cognitive psychology for students, and collect data for various behavioral experiments. The experiment will be realized mainly by related computer software. In addition to being familiar with the principles and operations of various important experiments, students are also required to design experiments and analyze data with psychological software.

The laboratory is equipped with the most popular psychological experimental system and commonly used psychological statistical software, such as E-Prime, Presentation and Inquisit, and the experimental psychological system developed by Peking University is installed. At the same time, the laboratory has installed a network server, and students and teachers can freely download and browse all kinds of information (including all kinds of psychological full-text electronic journals and abstract databases purchased by the school library and psychology department). At present, the experimental psychology laboratory has 23 computers available for network use, which basically meets the requirements.

The 128 channel event-related potential -ERP system, eye tracker (eyelink II) and 16 physiological recording system (BIOPAC MP 150) were installed in the brain functional imaging laboratory, eye tracker laboratory and multi-channel physiological recording system laboratory. The behavior laboratory and children's behavior observation room are designed by combining teaching with practice, and are multifunctional observation and consultation rooms (which have been put into use at present).

In addition, the psychological experiment center also purchased a variety of psychological measurement tools, including mental scales of intelligence, personality, neuropsychology and mental health.

In addition to the equipment of the above departments, the Brain Functional Imaging Research Center of Sun Yat-sen University (Siemens 3.0T high-speed real-time imaging functional magnetic resonance instrument installed in 2006) was established in cooperation with the Department of Neurology, Developmental Pediatrics and Radiology of Medical College and affiliated hospitals to carry out teaching and research in the fields of brain functional imaging, language learning and mental health.

Eight, books and materials

This is one of the key construction projects of our department. Over the past year, the books and materials of psychology in our school have also been greatly expanded. In addition to the existing materials of the school, the Department of Psychology of Peking University and the Department of Psychology of Hong Kong University donated 50 Chinese and 100 English psychology books to our school respectively, and Professor Yang personally donated tens of thousands of Chinese and English psychology books. In addition, our department has received various donations from other individuals (see the announcement of our department for the list). In order to keep up with the development of psychology department and psychology discipline in Sun Yat-sen University, the school library has successively purchased a large number of new psychology books and updated 195 psychology English magazines. More importantly, the library and the Department of Psychology have successively purchased full-text electronic publications and abstract databases from several publishing houses or societies, and built the most comprehensive psychological digital library and reference center in China, which greatly facilitated the literature retrieval.

These databases include: PsycINFO, psycARTICLES (including the full texts of 49 journals affiliated to the American Psychological Association after 1988), Academic Press (including many psychological journals including cognitive psychology), and Academic Research Library (ARL, Including Annals of Psychology), Blackwell (including many psychological publications including all publications of American Psychological Association -APS), EBSCOHost, Kluver, Elsevier Science (including many psychological journals related to brain research and cognitive research, such as Cognition, Brain and Language), e-psychology, John Wiley, Nature (including Nature) and All.

Through these databases, Sun Yat-sen University can retrieve more than 300 full-text journals of psychology or related disciplines (covering all famous psychology journals), and several abstract databases can retrieve abstracts of major documents from 65438 to 0872. In addition, the full texts of most psychological journals in China can be accessed through online databases such as China Academic Journals Network and Superstar Library in the school library.

It can be said that the real psychological digital library is taking shape in Sun Yat-sen University.
