1986, Feng Xiangguang was admitted to China University of Science and Technology as the No.1 scholar in Wuxi, 199 1 went to study in the United States. After working in Silicon Valley for nearly ten years, he returned to Wuxi as the first batch of "530" talents in early 2007. Now he is the general manager of Wuxi Guanghui Microelectronics Co., Ltd. ..
After more than three years of hard work, Feng Xiangguang has become a leader among the "530" talents. However, today, the problem of "how to make foreign experience serve China and cut into the China market as soon as possible" still puzzles him.
In recent years, it has become a craze for overseas talents to return to China to start businesses. Feng Xiangguang is one of them, and his confusion is also a common problem faced by most returnees.
Most afraid of "acclimatization"
"The advantage of returnees is that they have absorbed foreign advanced technology and industrial experience, and can break through the existing habits and limitations in China, and its disadvantage is precisely here: they are not adapted to the domestic environment and do not know enough about the China market." Feng Xiangguang said in an interview with the Science Times reporter in Wuxi recently that how to make foreign things serve China and cut into the China market as soon as possible is the first challenge faced by returnees.
Feng Xiangguang's words represent the voices of many overseas entrepreneurs in Wuxi.
In 2006, Wuxi city issued the "530" plan, that is, 30 leading entrepreneurs who returned to China after studying abroad were introduced within five years. Feng Xiangguang was one of the first seven leading figures to sign the contract. The Wuxi Municipal Government provided these entrepreneurs with 6,543,800 yuan of start-up capital and not less than 3 million yuan of venture capital fund and other preferential treatment.
For a time, the number of returnees in Wuxi increased rapidly. Take the "530" project as an example. In the past four years, the number of "530" projects introduced by Wuxi has increased from 7 in 2006 to 876 at the end of March this year, and more than 6,000 high-level talents have been introduced.
Today, 1/3 of "530" enterprises has entered the market, 1/3 has entered the industrialization stage, and 1/3 is still in the research and development stage. For the entrepreneurs of these enterprises, a big problem to be solved urgently is how to improve their management and marketing capabilities, which can not only maintain the advantages of returnees, but also make up for their shortcomings of "acclimatization".
Before creating Creative Video, Zhang Hui was the co-founder of Zhongxing Microelectronics. In September 2006, after Zhang Hui founded Chuangyi Video, it developed into a leading enterprise in the domestic mobile TV chip industry.
Zhang Hui also has his own views on the pros and cons of returnees. "Since it is returnees, of course, there must be a few brushes. We must be able to grasp the development trend of our own industry and accurately cut into the key links that can lead the transformation and development of the industry. This should be the advantage of our returnees. " Similar to Feng Xiangguang's idea, he also believes that "returnees are most afraid of' acclimatization' and' untimely ambition after death'". This is our disadvantage. "
Become a "cookbook writer"
Based on his own entrepreneurial experience, the experience that Zhang Hui most wants to share with overseas returnees is: "We must put down the burden of overseas returnees, be brave enough to integrate into the soil of China, be a' hyena', and have the spirit and will of a wolf."
For this, Liu Chuanzhi, chairman and president of Legend Holdings, also agrees very much.
As an important part of China (Wuxi) Returnee Entrepreneurship Summit, Lenovo Star Entrepreneurship Lecture Hall was also held in Wuxi for the first time. Liu Chuanzhi was there in person to share his entrepreneurial experience with overseas talents from all over the country.
Previously, when Lenovo Star was mentioned, the first thing people thought of was the Lenovo Star CEO training class. Since its establishment in 2008, the "Lenovo Star" entrepreneurial CEO special training course has been successfully held for two sessions. Through "entrepreneurship training+angel investment", a group of leading talents in science and technology entrepreneurship have been discovered and trained to help them grow into tomorrow's stars of science and technology entrepreneurship in China.
Regarding the opening of Lenovo Star Entrepreneurship Lecture Hall in Wuxi, Liu Chuanzhi explained: "I hope that with the support of local governments, an atmosphere supporting entrepreneurship and innovation can be formed in society as soon as possible to attract more people to care about such things." He said that the enthusiasm and support of Wuxi municipal government for high-tech talents' entrepreneurship is the reason why they chose Wuxi as the first stop of the lecture hall. The lecture hall will continue to be held in Wuhan from June 5438 to 10 this year, and the scale will be larger and larger in the future.
When talking about returnees' entrepreneurship, Liu Chuanzhi also believes that returnees must start from "innovative hyenas" if they want to return to China to start businesses.
"The first condition for entrepreneurial success is to require entrepreneurs to have clear goals and constantly sublimate, so that they can be considered high." Liu Chuanzhi said that entrepreneurs should have the ambition to be "big trees". Only in this way can they establish lofty ideals and have firm will.
In addition, as an entrepreneur, you should have a strong learning ability, constantly learn from books, from the surrounding environment, especially from your own practice. As far as this requirement is concerned, Liu Chuanzhi believes that entrepreneurs should become "people who write recipes", that is, they can formulate corresponding strategies according to changing situations. Specific to returnees entrepreneurs, is to "have the ability to solve specific problems in the specific environment of China".
Bicycle VS BMW
Wang Jianqing is the chief management consultant of Lenovo Investment. Since the establishment of 200 1, Lenovo has invested in more than 90 enterprises, of which 1/3 was founded by returnees. Wang Jianqing's first suggestion to returnees entrepreneurs: "After you come back, you should have a good understanding of the local situation in China."
She told such a story. Lenovo Investment invested in an enterprise doing enterprise management software in the early days of its establishment. The whole team of this enterprise is a doctor who came back from the United States and achieved the director level in a large foreign company. They brought the leading American technology and products back to China, which I believe will be helpful to enterprises in China. But the reality is that when their products really enter the market, except for some enterprises that have reached a certain scale, most enterprises feel that they are not used. Later, the customer told them, "We need bicycles, but they sell BMWs."
"The crux of this enterprise lies in the lack of understanding of the market environment in China." Wang Jianqing said.
In addition, some entrepreneurs who returned to China did not adapt to the domestic environment, felt that the quality of domestic employees was poor, and demanded to enjoy wages and benefits far superior to those of domestic employees, which led to contradictions and conflicts between two entrepreneurial teams with different backgrounds.
At present, many returnees who work in domestic scientific research institutions and universities are also starting businesses in addition to scientific research and teaching. For such enterprises, Wang Jianqing thinks it is best to jump out of the system and operate independently. Even within the system, assets such as intellectual property rights should be clearly divided. Only in this way can enterprises develop healthily for a long time. (Ji Hongmei)
