So how to practice calligraphy as a modern person?
1, the key to learning calligraphy is to practice more, and practicing more means pasting more. But if you don't study properly, it will become a mere formality and have no practical effect. According to my own practice for many years, I think it is necessary to learn to observe when practicing calligraphy well. People often say that "the word is half read", which is very reasonable.
2. From the perspective of writing well, you can practice official script first and then running script. If you want to achieve something in art, you should learn regular script. Although official script is casual and easy for beginners to learn, it takes sweat and hard work to learn it well. When learning the inscription, we should not only learn its shape and expression well, but also work hard on the skills of using the pen, so as to make the central stroke rhythmic, skillful in lifting and pressing, dignified in lines and rich in connotation changes. These are all important elements of learning calligraphy, that is, basic skills. Once the learners master it, they will get twice the result with half the effort when they switch from writing official script to writing regular script, and the written regular script will look better, with a rich, simple and elegant charm.
3. Copy as many posts as possible. In the process of copying, most people will not actively and deeply analyze and understand the ins and outs of each basic stroke of each font, as well as the writing essentials in basic strokes, such as lifting, pressing, stopping, closing the pen and reversing, folding, returning and turning, which essentially hinders the ability to observe calligraphy, think independently and think creatively, and it is difficult to really improve the level of calligraphy. Temporary writing can make up for the deficiency of copying. As far as my practice is concerned, improvisation is much faster than copying.
4. Participate in calligraphy exhibitions, competitions and other forms to stimulate the enthusiasm for learning books. On the basis of practicing soft pen (brush), improve the writing ability of hard pen (pen) and gradually improve the appreciation level of calligraphy creation. As long as you work hard, you will certainly improve your writing.
5. Thinking before writing is conducive to the concentration of thinking and forms a good habit of thinking before writing. Writing while thinking, for individuals, the effect is better. But for most people, the effect is not so good. Thinking about words before writing helps to understand them as a whole. For example, what is the structure and size of a word, what are the strokes of the word, where to get a pen, where to pick up a pen, and so on. All this will be clear to you in the process of thinking, so you will have a clear idea when writing, and it will be easier to write. Especially when some people are thinking, they can't help drawing on the desktop with their fingers. It can be seen that thinking before writing is very effective for primary school students.
6. Correctly handle temporary posting to learn calligraphy. Temporary posts are only a means, and creation is the purpose. After posting for a long time, I have basically mastered the brushwork and structural principle of the model essay I have learned, and being able to write an overview of the model essay just lays a good foundation for my creation, which does not mean that I can create a good work at once. Even if you can write the post vividly, it is not a real creation. Because pasting is only a general writing process, and calligraphy creation must use artistic thinking to carry out in-depth creative work. Therefore, it is a very difficult and complicated process from posting to creation, and there is a transition period between "pro" and "creation". During this period, people who are good at grasping can sail smoothly to the other side of creation; On the contrary, it can only stay in the writing stage, and even have a negative feeling of fear of difficulties in calligraphy creation, which leads to abandoning school and books and giving up all previous efforts. What should we pay attention to in the transition from "pro" to "creation"? The author thinks that we should correctly understand and deal with the following two aspects: First, the relationship between "posting" and "posting". When carefully analyzing the characteristics of brushwork and structure, book learners should grasp the physical and mental characteristics of calligraphy posts, that is, understand and remember their shape, brushwork and rhythm, and grasp the connotation of calligraphy posts such as momentum, brushwork, charm and style, so as to make calligraphy posts clear and clear. This is the process of posting. After that, I stopped reading the copybook, memorized the shape, strokes, composition and style of the copybook with my heart and brain, changed the copybook into "myself" and gradually changed from "like" to "unlike", and exerted my personality and creative spirit, so that I could change the law without losing it. This is called "posting". Relatively speaking, "entering the post" is the imitation stage of learning tradition and one of the first conditions to lay a solid foundation; "Posting" is a creative and innovative stage of seeking departure and change. It is not easy to "paste", especially to "paste". After a period of "on-the-job" study, learners have improved their observation, perception and expressiveness of words through the practical understanding of specific stippling, thus increasing their aesthetic consciousness and then being able to glimpse the internal laws in the external form. It should be noted that only by paying equal attention to pen and ink can we get a glimpse of the internal laws in the external form. It should be noted that to pay equal attention to both pen and ink, we can sometimes see the internal laws in the external form. It should be noted that we should pay equal attention to pen and ink, cross and reverse creation, strengthen flexibility, creativity and change consciousness, and combine images with images. Only in this way can we make necessary reserves for the creation of "stickers". The second is the relationship between creation and composition. The construction of rules and regulations is the most important symbol of the improvement of calligraphy level. Creation is a dynamic continuation of spirit, but it can't be equal to the past in pursuit and expression motivation. It not only requires the formal beauty of "things close to the body but far away" in the glyph structure, but also requires the vividness and rhythm of "invisible phase and silent voice". It is a one-off art, seemingly simple, but extremely concise. Composition is very important in calligraphy creation. A good composition can not only show the beauty of the calligrapher's skills and strength without overstepping the bounds, but also reveal the calligrapher's affection, cultivation, temperament and aesthetics. The formation of the artistic style of calligraphy can never be achieved by "entering posts" and "posting posts" in the general sense. Any calligrapher lives in a certain historical period, and his creative thinking is inevitably influenced by social, political, economic, cultural, customs and other factors at that time, and has the emotional color endowed by the times.
When a calligrapher creates a calligraphy work, he must start with the first character, measure the paper and set the character. Sun of the Tang Dynasty said, "It's a deal." Calligrapher Ge Shouzhi also pointed out: "Write a word first, and its word potential can be controlled to the end." This shows that in the whole article, the initial word is very restrictive, and the font, stroke state, oblique position, body size and ink shade of the word potential are basically determined, so the initial word has the function of guiding the article. Generally speaking, if the first character is this careless brushwork, then, the brushwork of the character, or one character uses Wang's brushwork, and another character suddenly uses Yan's brushwork, it will inevitably lead to visual disharmony. Although some calligraphers, such as Zheng Banqiao, deliberately pursue a miscellaneous word with different styles in Chinese, this is only a special case, and it is not the rule for most people to write. As for the size and skew, it is not unrestrained. If the first character is left-handed, the next character should change accordingly. This is what calligraphers used to call "the method of managing the collar".
7, step by step, bold application. When writing calligraphy, we should consider the use of pen, change, structure, composition, ink method and so on. It is impossible without a few years of hard work. For beginners, the emphasis is on basic strokes and stroke changes; Then the structure of words; Finally, the overall composition (layout). After practice, we should boldly apply it to our work.
For practicing calligraphy, I also want to tell a story about Ouyang Tong learning to buy his father's character. Ouyang Tong is the son of Ou Yangxun. Ou Yangxun died when he was very young. After Ouyang Tong became sensible, his mother began to teach him to learn his father's calligraphy. Ouyang Tong is small and has been practicing calligraphy for a long time. He wants to go out to play, and his handwriting is average. Mother said to him, "son, your father's handwriting is very good, and many people pay high prices for his handwriting." You should write as well as your father. "Ouyang Tong listened and said," I can write as good as my father's handwriting, but I don't know what my father's handwriting looks like when he buys it. "After that, he often accumulated the exotic flowers and plants given by his mother and bought back the words that Dad had sold to others before. When people refused to sell, he paid a high price. Knowing that his father's handwriting is really good, he stopped being lazy to practice it. After several years of hard study, Ouyang Tong's handwriting is as good as his father's, and more people come to buy his handwriting.
