In the same year, the State Tobacco Monopoly Bureau once again established the key laboratory of tobacco planting in the tobacco industry relying on Henan Agricultural University. In 2007, crop science was awarded as the only first-class discipline and national key discipline in Henan Province.

The College of Tobacco of Henan Agricultural University was formally established on February 5, 2008. The college has tobacco engineering department, tobacco science department, basic science department and central laboratory. Tobacco College has two undergraduate majors: tobacco science, food science and engineering (tobacco engineering direction), and has a complete higher education training system such as master's degree, doctoral degree and postdoctoral degree in tobacco science. At present, there are six research directions: tobacco cultivation physiology, tobacco breeding, tobacco leaf preparation, tobacco quality ecology, tobacco chemistry and cigarette technology. It has two ministerial-level scientific research platforms: the National Tobacco Cultivation Physiological and Biochemical Research Base and the Key Laboratory of Tobacco Cultivation in the tobacco industry.
