Application of superplastic forming
Sheet metal forming

The forming method mainly includes.

Vacuum forming methods include female die method and male die method. Put the superplastic sheet into the mold, heat both the sheet and the mold to a predetermined temperature, blow compressed air into the mold or draw air out of the mold to form negative pressure, so that the sheet can be closely attached to the female die or the male die, thus obtaining the workpiece with the required shape. When the accuracy of the external dimension of the component is high or when a shallow cavity component is formed, the female die method is used, and when the accuracy of the internal dimension of the component is high or when a deep cavity component is formed, the male die method is used.

The maximum air pressure required by vacuum forming method is 105Pa, and the forming time is generally only 20 ~ 30s depending on the material and shape. It is only suitable for the forming of thin plate parts with a thickness of 0.4 ~ 4 mm.

Deep drawing of metal plate

By heating the flange part of the superplastic plate and adding oil pressure to the periphery, a deep container can be pulled out at one time. The deep drawing ratio H/d0 can reach about 15 times that of ordinary drawing.

Extrusion and die forging

Superplastic die forging of superalloys and titanium alloys can not only save raw materials and reduce costs, but also greatly improve the yield. Therefore, superplastic die forging is a promising process for forging alloys with poor ductility.
