A survey of British and American college English
"His plays are original English plays in many ways, and in some ways they can be called the originator of English plays."

Bullshit. Shakespeare's works are mainly adapted from foreign stories and legends. Besides, no matter how you shoot Shakespeare, it's not a nose stick. Where did you take Marlowe? Before bocks and Marlowe, there were many important writers.

Shakespeare is a humanist writer. His plays are Renaissance plays, and classicism preceded him. Shakespeare broke the rule of strictly observing the three laws. In addition, before this, the tragedy was mainly the tragedy of the fate of the characters, and it was the tragedy of the protagonist. These heroes are fearless at all times, but because of God (that is, fate), they have a tragic ending. But Shakespeare paid more attention to the characters themselves at the beginning, and his personality led to his ending.

Shakespeare's plays are the pinnacle of English drama. After his death, the British government ordered the demolition of the theater, prohibiting folk performing groups from implementing a very strict script review system. However, after that, English drama did not develop much. So it has little effect on the development of British drama, but it plays an irreplaceable role in the development of world drama.

But Shakespeare's plays had a great influence on later plays, and many things he created became mothers.

Shakespeare's plays are treasures in the history of English literature. Shakespeare fully played the role of irony in his immortal masterpieces, which attracted the attention of critics of all ages. Socrates introduced irony into the world and named it. Over the years, irony has gradually developed into a multi-level and meaningful term, and achieved unprecedented development in Europe in the18th century. Shakespeare inherited the satirical tradition of European literature. And with a high degree of artistic consciousness, irony is skillfully integrated into his works. This paper aims to explore the role and value of Shakespeare's irony art in his drama creation, especially in his comedy creation through the analysis of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Twelfth Night is the pinnacle of Shakespeare's use of irony skills, which almost integrates all the irony skills used in Shakespeare's previous comedy creation. The successful application of typical irony theory in Twelfth Night has played a good role in characterization, structure setting and comedy effect. Generally speaking, Shakespeare's use of verbal irony, dramatic irony and situational irony in his plays reveals the theme, shapes the characters, optimizes the structure and enhances the comedy effect. This paper will devote itself to the interpretation of irony through the analysis of Twelfth Night. Especially the big role in comedy creation. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part, by analyzing the use of verbal irony in Twelfth Night, shows its outstanding role in shaping the characters of the hero and heroine Viola and Ossino. Verbal irony in a broad sense is widely used in the play, and Shakespeare strives to achieve the irony effect through the implied meaning of the dialogue between characters and play a role in shaping the characters' personalities. Viola disguised as a disguise was trapped by the situation. Most of his words have implications, which makes his personality more distinct. In the description of Ossino's character, Shakespeare spared no effort to highlight this feature. The second part describes the application of dramatic irony in Twelfth Night and its role in setting off the comedy atmosphere. By introducing the concept of drama irony, we come to the conclusion that the comedy effect comes from the audience's knowledge. On the twelfth night, Shakespeare used three effective methods to achieve this contrast, namely, twin brothers and sisters and practical jokes. It is precisely because of the misunderstanding of the characters in the play that a series of contradictions and conflicts have been triggered, which has led to many jokes, especially in the image-building of the housekeeper Malfurion. His absurd and hypocritical personality was exposed in a practical joke. The third part analyzes the application of situational irony in Twelfth Night and its prominent role in the characterization and plot structure design. To some extent, situational irony and plot setting are usually closely related. Situational irony can be subdivided into event irony and comparative irony. Through the description of the housekeeper Malfurion's unrealistic expectations, he not only portrayed his hypocritical personality incisively and vividly, but also successfully constructed the secondary line of plot development. Viola and Olivia's diametrically opposite personality characteristics are also presented to the audience through comparative irony.
