Han Jiang

Han River

Also known as Han Jiang or Han Jiang.

The second longest river in China is in Guangdong Province. The Tang Dynasty was called Xiexi, and later it was renamed Hanjiang in memory of Han Yu. Tingjiang River in the north flows from Wuyishan in the southwest of Ninghua County, Fujian Province, and flows southward into Meijiang River in the south of Sanheba in dapu county, Guangdong Province. It flows south below Chaozhou River, branches into Hanjiang Delta, and flows into Nanhai of Chenghai County and Shantou City respectively. It is 4 10 km long. Hanjiang River is an important connecting waterway between Chaoshan (Shantou), Xingmei (county) and Changting, Fujian.

Originating in Baishanlou, Zijin County, Guangdong Province, it flows through dapu county and joins Chengjiang River. It is called Hanjiang River, with a total length of more than 400 kilometers, and is the second largest river in Guangdong Province. The Hanjiang River was called Evil Creek and Crocodile Creek in ancient times, and it was named after crocodiles. Also called feng shui, because Chaozhou is also called Fengcheng; Later, in order to commemorate Han Yu's crocodile drive, it was renamed Han Jiang. Hanjiang River flows through Chaozhou city about 3 kilometers, and the jiangbei section is wide. The north dike connects Zhugan Mountain and Jinshan to ensure the safety of the ancient city.

The kapok beside the embankment is tall and straight, and the ferry travels between the two sides of the strait and sails in the wind, which constitutes one of the eight scenic spots in Chaozhou, "Crocodile Crossing the Autumn Wind". Xiangzi Bridge is located in the middle reaches of the Han River, connecting the ancient city with the traffic on the east coast. Whenever the water rises in spring, the flood hits the pier made of boulder and rushes down, which is spectacular. Therefore, "Xiangqiao Spring" is also listed as one of the eight scenic spots in Chaozhou. The southern section is divided into east and west waters around Phoenix Island, and the Phoenix Tower is built at the head of Phoenix Island. In the rainy season, when you go on stage and overlook the river, it is misty and rainy, and Xiangzi Bridge looms. Therefore, "Phoenix Rain" is also one of the eight scenic spots in Chaozhou. The Phoenix Pagoda, which faces the Phoenix Pagoda across the river, stands by the river and reflects Shui Ying, just like a giant column, with magnificent scenery. This is the Longling Pagoda, one of the eight scenic spots in Chaozhou. Hanjiang River is a long-flowing river. Ships and bamboo rafts shuttle across the river, forming a magnificent picture with many scenic spots on both sides.

The Hanjiang River was called Member Water in ancient times, because crocodiles once occupied Hechi, endangering people and animals, so it was also called Evil Stream, and it was called Hanjiang River only after the Song Dynasty.

Hanjiang River is the second largest river in Guangdong Province and the largest river in Chaoshan. From the birthplace to the East-West Estuary, the total length is 470 kilometers, with a drop of 920 meters, and the total basin area is 30 1 12 square kilometers.

The source of Hanjiang River comes from the mountainous area at the junction of Jiangxi, Fujian and Guangdong provinces. There are two main sources, one is Tingjiang and the other is Meijiang. Tingjiang River originated in Nanshanping, Ninghua County, Fujian Province (Raochaozhou recorded that it originated in the southern foot of Wuyi Mountain in Changting County), and flowed to the southeast, injecting many streams along the way and entering Guangdong Province via Shi Feng. Tingjiang River flows from dapu county into Xihe Zhang and Meitan River, into Sanheba, and joins Meijiang River flowing from west to southeast, with a total length of 323 kilometers and a drainage area of 1 1800 square kilometers.

Meijiang River originated in the junction of Baishan Point and Qixing Point in Zijin County (according to Rao's Chaozhou Records, it originated in the southern foot of Jiulian Mountain in Guangdong and Jiangxi, and then flowed southeast to be called Tanjiang River, and then flowed northeast to meet under the Shuikou). The water flows northeast along the north slope of Lianhua Mountain, flows into Xingning River, Wuhua River, Grottoes River and Pomelo River along the way, and turns southeast at Songkou.

After the Tingjiang River and Meijiang River meet at Sanheba, it is called Hanjiang River. The amount of water is increasing rapidly and the river is rushing. Along the way, Wenci Water, Fenghuang Creek and some small rivers in the pit are gathered, and all the way south to the outside of Chaozhou, with a total length of about 1 10 km. The section from Sanheba to Xiangzi Bridge outside Chaozhou is called the middle reaches of the Han River. From Chaozhou to Haikou, it is the lower reaches of the Han River.

The lower reaches of Hanjiang River are located in the delta plain, with flat terrain, low river bed gradient and moderate water potential. Not far below Xiangzi Bridge, it is fanned into three tributaries. The northeast branch is called Beixi, the middle branch is called Dongxi and the west branch is called Xixi.

Beixi (note: the stream that flowed into Beixi before the last construction of Gangshan Reservoir) flows through Dongli Town, Chenghai City, joins the artificially excavated Nanxi (excavated in Song Zhezong, with a length of10.5km, connecting the shipping of Dongxi and Beixi), flows through Dongli Bridge Gate, and enters the sea at Yifeng Port, with a total length of 30km.

The east-west trunk flows through Yang Lian Bridge Gate in Chenghai City and enters the sea from Beigang, with a total length of about 38 kilometers. (Note: Chengyanggang at the junction of Nanxi and Dongxi has been frequently reported in newspapers recently. It is reported that there are more than 100 ancient banyan trees here.

Xixi is below Aotouzhou and is divided into three streams. The eastern Waisha River flows into the sea through the Waisha Bridge Gate, about11km long; The middle class is called Xinjin River, which flows through Xiapu Bridge gate at the junction of Chenghai City and Shantou City, leaving Xinjin Port and entering the sea, with a length of about 15.6 km. Xixi, named Meixi, flows through Shantou City, passes Meixi Bridge Gate and Xinghua Bridge, and divides into two roads under Xinghua Bridge. One passes through jiefang bridge and Guanghua Bridge to Shantou Port, and the other passes through Huilan Bridge and Wuqiao. It is an artificial waterway and flows into Shantou Port, with a length of about 13.9 km. It is the main shipping line in the lower reaches of the Han River. In addition, at the long end of Meixi section, there is a small river (controlled by sluice) about 6.6 kilometers long, called Honglianchi River, which flows through Yuepu Township and enters the sea from Xigang.

The runoff of Hanjiang River is mainly produced by rainfall, and the annual precipitation is directly proportional to the annual runoff. The annual flood season of Hanjiang River is generally from April to September, and the highest peak appears in June.
