In order to do a good job in this year's degree awarding work in our school, we now put forward the following opinions on the degree application and thesis defense in 2006 through research:

1. The application, thesis defense and degree conferment of master's degree in our university shall be implemented in accordance with the Detailed Rules for the Granting of Master's Degree in Jinan University and other relevant documents.

Second, the degree application conditions

Degree applicants must pass the course examination specified in the postgraduate training program of our university, with qualified grades, complete the required training links, complete the credits and complete the degree thesis, some of which will be published in domestic and foreign journals.

Postgraduates are required to bind their dissertations into volumes according to the prescribed format, and submit their dissertations and degree applications only after they have been examined and approved by the tutor, confirmed by the person in charge of the discipline, and approved by the person in charge of the degree evaluation sub-committee.

Third, the time to accept the degree application:

1) Before April 20th, the Graduate Office will submit all the original materials (report card, training plan, academic activity registration form, teaching practice assessment form, social practice assessment form, mid-term screening assessment form, topic opening report form and mid-term paper inspection form) of graduate students from all colleges.

2) According to the training plan and personal training plan, the graduate secretary of each college should check whether his credits and training links meet the requirements of applying for a degree.

3) Before May 8, the applicant shall submit the defense application form (downloaded from the Internet), the original papers published during the school period (returned to me after inspection), the copy (1 copy) (including cover, contents and text) and two blind papers (the names of tutors and graduate students are not allowed) to the graduate secretary of the college. After the inspection, the graduate secretary will receive their papers and issue an application form for degree, which will not be accepted after the expiration of half a year.

4) Before May 10, the graduate secretaries of each college will submit the blind draft to the Graduate Office, which will be responsible for submitting it for review. No more overdue graduate students will be accepted in the first half of the year.

5) Before May 25th, the graduate office will feed back the results of the blind evaluation to the graduate secretary of the college, and the graduate secretary will feed back the results to the graduate students in time, limiting them to revise their papers and bind them into at least 10 copies (of which 1 copy will be submitted to the library, 1 copy will be kept in the school archives, 2 copies will be submitted to the graduate office and 5 copies will be given to the members of the defense committee).

6) Before May 30th, the graduate secretary will submit the Application Form for Postgraduate Defense and the summary table of our college to the Graduate Office for review, and qualified graduate students will be allowed to defend, and the defense work will be completed before June 20th.

Five, the paper review and defense requirements:

The dissertations that have passed the double-blind review shall be reviewed by the degree review committee. The list of members of the thesis defense Committee is proposed by the college, and after being examined and approved by the person in charge of the degree evaluation sub-Committee, it is reported to the degree office for examination and approval. The tutor of the degree applicant can be a member of the defense Committee, but not the chairman of the defense Committee. The chairman of the defense Committee should generally be an expert with the title of professor hired from other schools.

In order to improve the quality of degree awarding in our school, encourage graduate students to actively engage in scientific research and complete high-quality dissertations, according to the Interim Measures for the Selection of Excellent Master's Dissertations in Jinan University, the school organizes the selection of excellent master's dissertations every year. Each college will submit the recommendation form of excellent master's thesis of Jinan University to the degree office before June 25th. The recommended proportion shall not exceed 0/5% of graduates/kloc.
