The illustration should have a drawing number in the format of "Figure m-n". Where m is the chapter number of the illustration, n is the serial number of the illustration in this chapter, and both m and n are Arabic numerals. The illustrations in each chapter are numbered independently. For example, the fourth illustration in Chapter 3 is labeled as "Figure 3-4".
The title of the picture should accurately reflect the meaning of the picture, usually a noun phrase, as concise as possible. The drawing name is placed after the drawing number and separated from the drawing number by two full-width spaces.
For the convenience of description, the drawing number and the drawing name can be called "drawing name" together.
There are four forms of illustrations, namely hand-drawing, screen capture, scanning and document opening.
Hand-drawn drawings refer to drawings drawn directly by drawing commands in Word. This illustration takes up the least disk space and is the most used illustration form. The data flow diagram, structure diagram and program block diagram are drawn by this method. The legend used in drawing should be standardized. Note "Yes/No" or "Y|N" in the selection box of the program block diagram, and use rounded rectangles in the start box and the end box (it is recommended to use the software Visio frame diagram specially used for frame diagrams): the data lines of the data flow diagram need to be marked with data names, and the arrows between data processing and data storage have no data names.
