An educational psychology paper from a university in Zhejiang wrote that the average daily online time of college students using WeChat almost exceeds the classroom study time, and using social media has become a common way of information socialization. Long-term use of online social media reduces students' face-to-face communication ability, which weakens the development of college students' real social ability to some extent. In the new media era, the ultimate goal of college students' social communication and interpersonal communication is to integrate individuals into groups, gain communication value from groups and realize personal value. Although new media such as WeChat have expanded the social scope of college students, they have not really offset the loneliness of students. Although students frequently update their circle of friends and send messages every day, loneliness still exists in the virtual network. Individuals' excessive dependence on the sense of belonging and support gained by virtual networks will not only fail to meet their needs, but will worsen their real interpersonal relationships and lead to their alienation from interpersonal, social and environmental relationships.
Although new media such as WeChat provide many conveniences for students' interpersonal communication, it also brings many negative effects. If there are no restrictions on the use of online social platforms, students' vague cognition of their social behavior will be aggravated. Although new media such as WeChat provide diversified communication space and scope, they also expand irrational social interaction. Therefore, it is necessary to guide college students to socialize, help them identify the social orientation of the network, guide students to pay attention to positive social information, avoid the influence of bad network culture, correctly understand their social behavior, learn to use social media correctly, plan social time on the network reasonably, and shape students' interpersonal skills in reverse.
