Idiom is a unique and fixed expression in the process of language, which embodies the thought and wisdom of the nation. Generalized idioms include idioms, proverbs, idioms and allusions. English and Chinese have a long history and contain a large number of idioms. They are concise, comprehensive and vivid, giving people a kind of enjoyment of beauty. However, because they come from different living environments, religions, history and customs, they carry different national cultural characteristics and cultural information, which makes translation difficult. By comparing English and Chinese idioms, this paper starts with the cultural differences between English and Chinese, finds out the reasons and puts forward the translation methods of English and Chinese idioms.
