Regulations on the Training of Veterinary Postgraduates in Shanghai Jiaotong University
In order to implement the strategy of "rejuvenating the country through science and education" and "sustainable development", better meet the urgent needs of China's economic construction and social development for high-level veterinary technology and management talents, and cultivate applied, compound and high-level veterinary talents who love the motherland, love animal husbandry and veterinary undertakings, abide by laws and regulations, have good moral character, work hard, be realistic and innovative, and can actively serve the departments of animal medical treatment, animal quarantine, animal protection, animal production, veterinary law enforcement and management. According to the veterinary professional degree setting plan reviewed and adopted at the17th meeting of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, according to the Regulations of People's Republic of China (PRC) on Academic Degrees and relevant documents of the Ministry of Education, and in combination with the specific situation of our university, this regulation is formulated for the purpose of training graduate students (referred to as "master veterinary students" or "VM-M graduate students") studying veterinary professional degrees.

I. Training objectives

The cultivation of veterinary postgraduate students must adhere to the policy of all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique and aesthetics, and require:

1. Master Socialism with Chinese characteristics Theory, support the Party's basic line, principles and policies, love the motherland, abide by the law, have high moral character, have good professional ethics and professionalism, and actively serve China's economic construction and veterinary modernization.

2. The master's degree in veterinary medicine should have a good grasp of the theoretical basis and professional knowledge in the professional field, as well as the relevant knowledge of management, humanities and social sciences, and have a wide range of related disciplines; Familiar with relevant national policies and regulations, familiar with the current situation of veterinary industry in China, and understand the development trend and trend of international veterinary industry; Have the ability to solve practical problems by using modern science and technology and theoretical knowledge, and have strong overall decision-making, organizational management and business execution capabilities. Have innovative consciousness and the ability to independently undertake veterinary science and technology services, technical supervision, management and development, project planning and implementation, management and other work. Master a foreign language, be able to read foreign language materials in this field and write abstracts of papers skillfully.

3. Have a healthy body.

Second, learning methods and years of study

Veterinary master's degree is studied in the way of not leaving school, and the training is carried out according to the training plan of veterinary master's degree. The study period of veterinary master's degree students is generally 2.5 years, and the specific study period can be appropriately extended upon approval. The longest academic system (including suspension) does not exceed 5 years. During the period of studying for a degree, the cumulative time spent studying in Shanghai Jiaotong University shall not be less than half a year.

Third, the training plan.

The training plan of veterinary professional degree should reflect the professional training objectives of veterinary master students, especially to strengthen practical disciplines and practical teaching links in terms of knowledge structure and ability structure according to the needs of animal husbandry and veterinary production development. Teaching emphasizes the cultivation of practical work ability and supplements certain knowledge of popular science, economics, management and sociology. The curriculum of veterinary master's degree should be based on the actual needs of the employing department. The curriculum system should be holistic, comprehensive, extensive and practical, and the curriculum content should reflect the latest achievements at home and abroad in the corresponding fields. A certain number of computer application and management courses should also be set up for the training of veterinary master students.

The contents of the training program mainly include the arrangement of courses and credits, and at the same time, the training objectives, professional direction, syllabus of degree courses and the arrangement of degree thesis (design) should be clarified. The training plan is discussed and approved by the degree evaluation sub-committee, and implemented after being reported to the graduate school for examination and filing.

Fourth, the training plan

1. The training plan for veterinary master students must be determined within three months after admission. The mode can be formulated by the college or determined according to the training plan and the specific conditions of veterinary master students under the guidance of tutors. The postgraduate training plan for veterinary master shall be submitted to the college (department, institute) and graduate school for the record after being approved by the person in charge of the field where the master of veterinary medicine is located.

2. The training plan of veterinary master's degree is the basis for the study of veterinary master's degree, and it is also the basis for reviewing the graduation and award of veterinary master's degree. After the training plan is determined, veterinary master students should strictly abide by it. In the process of implementing the training plan, if any modification is proposed for special reasons, the Application Form for Course Modification must be filled in within two weeks after the start of the teaching term of the modified course, and submitted to the training office of the graduate school for examination and approval after the consent of the tutor and the dean in charge.

Verb (abbreviation of verb) course learning

The courses of veterinary postgraduate students are divided into degree courses and non-degree courses. The selected degree courses and non-degree courses are compulsory courses, which must be included in the training plan and meet the required credit requirements. Other courses for postgraduate veterinary students to broaden their knowledge are optional courses, and any elective courses are not included in the training plan.

Marxist theory and the first foreign language course are public degree courses, which are taught by the school. On-campus teaching schedule is discharged by the graduate school and assigned to the college of veterinary professional degree, and off-campus teaching schedule is discharged by the college and reported to the training office of the graduate school for the record.

Specialized basic courses and specialized courses are organized by the college to reflect the basic requirements of animal husbandry and veterinary production technology and management, so that veterinary master students can master solid basic theories and systematic professional knowledge.

The credit system is implemented for postgraduate courses of veterinary medicine, and the minimum standard for compulsory courses is to complete 32 credits (18 hours is 1 credit), and the basic composition of credits is as follows:

1. The degree course is not less than 19 credits.

(1) 3 credits of Marxist theory course

(2) 4 credits for the first foreign language

Including basic foreign language 2 credits and professional foreign language 2 credits, the average score of the two is recorded as foreign language scores.

(3) Professional foundation and professional courses shall be no less than 12 credits.

2. Non-degree courses must have at least the minimum required credits.

After the completion of the master's degree in veterinary medicine, the college will organize a mid-term evaluation, focusing on reviewing the course learning of the students with master's degree in veterinary medicine. If the average score of degree courses is lower than 2.00, you can choose courses with a score lower than B in your degree courses for re-examination and re-examination, and charge a certain fee according to relevant regulations. The re-examination results will not be downgraded, but they will all be registered in the re-examination column. Veterinary master students whose GPA is lower than 2.00 within three years or whose GPA is still lower than 2.00 after re-examination of a course should suspend their studies.

1. Veterinary master's degree thesis is an important part of veterinary master's degree training. It is a comprehensive training of veterinary science and technology research, technical service and management for veterinary master students. It is also the main link to cultivate the innovative ability of veterinary master graduates and comprehensively use the knowledge they have learned to find, analyze and solve problems.

The master's degree thesis of veterinary medicine must be completed independently by the postgraduate students of veterinary medicine under the guidance of tutors or the collective guidance of tutors. The double tutor responsibility system is implemented. The first tutor is a teacher with the title of associate professor or above in our school, and a person with the same title in the area where the master students are located can be hired as the second tutor (recommended by the local personnel department and selected by the school). The first tutor is fully responsible for the thesis work of the master students.

3. Veterinary master students generally determine the research direction under the guidance of their tutors at the end of the third semester or the beginning of the fourth semester, and determine the research topic by consulting literature, collecting data and investigating, and complete the opening report within one month after the start of the fourth semester. The opening report must explain the research scope, significance and value of the subject, the problems to be solved, the research plan and research progress at the demonstration meeting attended by experts from this discipline and related disciplines, and carry out feasibility demonstration. Only after approval can the subject be studied. The source of scientific research funds, the purchase and processing plan of experimental equipment should be considered in advance and measures should be taken.

4. The topic selection of master's degree thesis in veterinary medicine should directly come from reality, and it should be a key problem in animal husbandry and veterinary work, including problems with important application value or application background (not only a complete animal husbandry and veterinary science and technology project planning and technical transformation project, but also a technical research topic, as well as the research and development of new technologies, new materials and new varieties), which should be advanced and have certain difficulty and workload. The thesis must be completed independently by the personnel studying for the master's degree in veterinary medicine, which can reflect their ability to solve practical problems by comprehensively applying scientific theories and methods.

5. Veterinary master students should generally conduct mid-term examination of dissertations about half a year after completing the opening report of dissertations. During the mid-term examination, veterinary postgraduates should summarize the thesis work in stages, explain the completed thesis work and achievements in stages, including theoretical research, experimental research and conclusions, and demonstrate the next work plan and the research content that needs to be completed. The mid-term inspection report of veterinary master graduate students must be submitted in written form, and the tutor puts forward opinions on the mid-term report. The tutor's comments should include the evaluation of students' work, especially the completion of the plan, personal learning performance and follow-up work.

6. The paper requires clear concepts, correct arguments, rigorous analysis, correct calculations, reliable data, concise sentences, clear charts and distinct levels, which can reflect that veterinary master students have a solid theoretical foundation and systematic professional knowledge, strong independent working ability and excellent style of study.

7. The thesis should generally include: explaining the significance of the subject, domestic and international trends, main problems and ways to be solved; My work in the project; Theoretical analysis and formula; Test equipment and test method; Calculation program; Test data processing; The necessary drawings, charts and curves; Conclusion and cited references, etc. I must clearly point out in my thesis the projects that I cooperate with others or continue on the basis of my predecessors.

Seven, thesis writing

Eight, publishing academic papers

According to "Regulations of Shanghai Jiaotong University on Requirements for Postgraduates to Publish Academic Papers during School", before applying for thesis defense, veterinary postgraduate students must publish (or hire) an academic paper related to their papers in public publications in the name of Shanghai Jiaotong University and veterinary postgraduate students as the first authors. When submitting a dissertation, the cover, table of contents and the first page of the article should be submitted at the same time; If the thesis is accepted, you need to submit the acceptance notice and the full text of the thesis. Otherwise, no thesis defense will be organized.

Nine, the defense rules

1. In order to make the dissertation work normally, veterinary postgraduate students should take the initiative to strengthen contact with their tutors, and the tutors should also take the initiative to care for the students and make necessary records on the situation of the guidance group. Before the paper is finalized, the tutor must review and revise the paper in detail and write the review comments. Papers can only be printed after being finalized by the tutor.

2. Veterinary master students can submit their papers to the Graduate Education Office of the College after completing their papers, and put forward the requirements for thesis defense and degree application. I fill in the master's degree (professional degree) application form, and the Education Department is responsible for reviewing it, and affix the seal of performance manager and management department on the score column of the master's degree (professional degree) application form.

3. The Academic Affairs Office is responsible for organizing the evaluation and defense of the master's degree thesis organized by the degree evaluation sub-committee. A special person must be responsible for the submission of papers, and it is strictly forbidden for students or tutors to interfere. Veterinary master students in off-campus teaching points must organize dissertations on campus.

4. The dissertation can only be defended after it has been approved by two reviewers (at least 1 is an expert with senior professional and technical positions outside the school, and the tutor is not a reviewer). If 1 or 2 reviewers do not agree to organize the defense, the defense of the dissertation will be suspended, and the evaluation of the dissertation will be reorganized after the revision. Reviewers who hold negative opinions for the first time will still be invited to participate in the second paper review.

It should take about one month from the finalization of the thesis to the organization of the thesis defense, and the thesis must be delivered to the defense Committee one week before the defense. The defense committee is generally composed of 3-5 experts with senior titles (including 1 off-campus experts, 1 judges; The chairman of the defense shall be the professor, and the tutor shall not be the chairman of the defense), and the tutor shall not be a member of the defense Committee composed of three people. Members of the defense committee may be nominated by the academic affairs office of the college and formally appointed with the consent of the dean in charge of the college. At the same time, 1 The Minister of National Defense is determined to assist the National Defense Commission.

6. The application materials for veterinary master's degree passed the thesis defense, and submitted to the academic degree evaluation committee at the school and hospital levels for review; Master students who have not passed the defense can apply for a dissertation defense again after three to six months of revision and supplement, and those who are still unqualified will be treated as graduates.

7. Veterinary master students who apply for thesis defense in advance or for some reason must submit a written application report within the time limit stipulated by the school, which will take effect after being approved by the tutor, college and graduate school.

8. Thesis defense procedure

The chairman declared the meeting open;

(2) The author reports the main contents of the paper (usually 10 to 15 minutes);

(3) The author reads the original thesis;

(4) read out the paper comments;

(5) The respondent members and participants ask questions and the author answers them;

(6) When the meeting is adjourned, the defense committee will hold a meeting to comment on the academic level of the dissertation and the author's defense, and vote by secret ballot (the voting contents shall be filled in by the defense secretary) to draw up a "defense resolution";

(7) When the meeting resumed, the chairman announced the resolution of the defense committee to defend the thesis.

9. The defense meeting should have detailed records, and the original written records should be kept by the college for future reference, which can only be destroyed after two years.

10. After the defense is completed, the defense secretary is responsible for submitting the paper review opinions, defense votes and original defense resolutions to the Graduate Education Office of the College. The academic affairs office summarizes and submits it to the academic degree secretary of the college, who is responsible for filing the teaching files in the school archives.

1 1. If you finish your thesis in advance, you can defend your thesis in advance upon your own application and with the consent of your tutor, college (department, institute) and graduate school. In order to ensure the training quality of veterinary master students, the time for early defense shall not exceed one year.
